I can't rebuild them, or tune them. My brother's 1970 2002 has a carb and i fear playing with it, but the engine bucks a tad under full throttle in 1 2 3 so im afraid to flog her with a carb that's not flowing properly. Jmabarone 04-16-2007, 07:01 PM I run a 32/36, and boy, does it run! Matt, maybe try leaning it out just a little bit? That's what we do on the karts when they start dying when we get on the throttle. Jake onesimo58 04-16-2007, 07:05 PM i run the stock 2 barrel downdraft carb on my 78 euro 318 320ipyro 04-16-2007, 11:33 PM i love the carb, it is SOOOO easy to tune Hadrian 04-17-2007, 01:16 AM Hadrian? you ended up getting a weber kit huh? nice right? :) Nah Dellorto. Dellorto>Weber :D Big John 04-17-2007, 11:21 AM del copied the weber design. weber pwns. no question, but dels are okay...... if your a homosexual....:lol E21Craze 04-17-2007, 12:34 PM del copied the weber design. weber pwns. no question, but dels are okay...... if your a homosexual....:lol Waddayamean homossexual? :mad Are you telling me I'm gay only 'cause I'm running 2 DHLA's? :stickoutt Scott72 04-17-2007, 01:20 PM I'm running a Solex 4A1 carb on a 2.7L M20 (Eta Motor). I absolutely hate this carb. One of the previous owners removed the choke, so it runs like garbage until warm. I might be picking up a 1990 M20 out of a 325I this Saturday...then...Bye bye Carb. cheechthechi 04-17-2007, 03:45 PM Efi ftw. Jmabarone 04-17-2007, 03:58 PM Efi ftw. + fuckin' one. Jake 320ipyro 04-17-2007, 09:34 PM Efi ftw. - 1000 i loove the carb (except the lack of a choke, but a new one is on the way Yonkers320is 04-17-2007, 09:35 PM I love carbs, maybe because like Jmabarone, I'm used to the carbs in Karts and bikes. But I despise this CIS. I have all the pieces to convert to real EFI, except the drive. Been really lazy with this cold spring here in the Northeast Jmabarone 04-17-2007, 10:37 PM I love carbs, maybe because like Jmabarone, I'm used to the carbs in Karts and bikes. But I despise this CIS. I have all the pieces to convert to real EFI, except the drive. Been really lazy with this cold spring here in the Northeast yeah, the karting has really helped me with tuning. I guess what I really love is like, ITBs, so maybe if I had 40 DCOEs I'd like the carbs more...not that mine doesn't have quite a bit of snappiness to it. Jake cheechthechi 04-18-2007, 01:09 AM - 1000 i loove the carb (except the lack of a choke, but a new one is on the way Carbs are nice and easy, but don't offer the precision of efi. Retuning carbs for higher altitudes, colder weather and the likes is a pain, whereas on efi the computer and sense and change it. Efi is also nicer for boost where you don't have to change your turbo seals for a drawthrough application or tune for a blow through application. Having said that though, nothing beats the sound of a car with sidedrafts.... especially the hakasuka gtr.. Hadrian 04-18-2007, 03:42 AM del copied the weber design. weber pwns. no question, but dels are okay...... if your a homosexual....:lol Yeah but dellorto improved the DCOE. Everyone knows Dellortos are better sil0kin 04-18-2007, 04:18 AM forget carbs..forget CIS, DTA all the way,,it takes teh win for my car and my vote :-) cheechthechi 04-18-2007, 08:06 AM Dta? what the heck is that? 320ipyro 04-18-2007, 07:35 PM i can see what your sayin cheech, but i love the extra kick that the carb gives, and i completely love workin on my engine, and every other engine, so i enjoy tuning that carb cheechthechi 04-18-2007, 08:20 PM i can see what your sayin cheech, but i love the extra kick that the carb gives, and i completely love workin on my engine, and every other engine, so i enjoy tuning that carb No sweat, its all a difference of opinion. In terms of sound there isnt anything sexier that sidedrafts, especially on the hakasuka gtr, which i still attest is the best sounding n/a engine I have ever heard. 320ipyro 04-18-2007, 08:23 PM +1 i would love sidedrafts, but they aint cheap! 79fishtailr 04-18-2007, 08:47 PM I Want To Know How Much More You Gain Over Cis Cuz I Got Some One That Sellin A Pair Of Side Draft My Motor Is Mild Built 92 Mm Piston 9.8 .1 With A292 Cam Header Etc ... And The Car Moves Well Would It A Nite And Day Difference And I'll Gain Over 25 Hps |
