As a vintage Fender amp freak(I own two early silverfaces- Deluxe Reverb "blackface spec", and a VibroChamp), I have to say that these Deluxes and DeVilles were some of the best Fenders that were turned out since the mid-70's. They were a necessary response to Peavey's Classic 50 series (which were the best Peavey's ever made). Great for running alot of effects through. Absolutely rips with a great tube overdrive pedal and some eq tweaking.

Good luck with the sale. I'd buy it - but I'm jonesin' for a Soldano AstroVerb or a MESA Blue Angel!

Dam Wytlytnyn sounds like you have quite the arsenal! tubes are the only way to go. Before I bought mine i thought there wasn't a big difference but now that i've had it for a year and a half I just can't get enough of the warm tube sound. I warn most of my friends against them actually because once you go tube you never go back. Well worth the extra $$

Yeah, once you've gotten bitten by the tube bug, its hard to go back to solid-state. I detest digital modeling amps (with the exception of the Cyber Twin) and love old analog effects. Let me know if any of you tube heads want to come over and piss off the neighbors with my stuff!

If you really want to see a little sweet tube amp check out the www.torresengineering.com site and check out their 3.5 watt Mini-Boogie amp. You can hook it up to another amp or a separate cab and just let it rip with full tube saturated glory without them calling the cops! They also have some sweet tube effects and different tubes you can swap into your preamp section (12AX7's usually). They also have cool mod kits for old Fenders.

I'm putting away for a Soldano Astroverb (20 watts) and a 1x12 Boogie cab for the last amp I'll ever buy......I think...:devillook

I've tried that "last thing" multiple times...it works untill another great deal comes up. I try to explain it but no one seems to understand the need for 8 guitars and 3 amps (besides my musically inclined friends of course).

I believe we suffer from what they call "G.A.S" or Gear Acquisition Syndrome.

I feel it kicking in hardest when I'm walking past the displays of effects pedals in the little shops that have the really cool Electro-Harmonix pedals and real tube distortion pedals or the "vintage" room at the Guitar Center when I originally intended to walk in, buy a pack of Dean Markley's and walk out. Two hours and several hundred dollars later, I've got the strings and some new thing that I'll have drive the neighbors insane as well as make me late for work and the gym with for several weeks.

Hm. Buncha guitars in here... :ponder

Okay, rhythm section represent! :redspot

6 basses (at last count) two amps, 3 drum sets, assorted other what-nots. And since one of the drum sets is a Roland V-drum system, even my drums have two amps! :D

We've got a Fender Blues Deluxe (tube) here a friend of mine sold that was never used a few years ago.....tweed covered, out-of-the-box new (he had one as a spare).......... there's nothing like the sound that comes from a tube amp. (I kinda compare it to "old-school" records, you just cant duplicate the sound on a CD........the mechanicals of the tubes themselves.....)

And your right.... cant compare the low power rating on a tube to non-tube, totally different animules........

Hmmmm. I've been thinking about adding either a Taylor, Martin, or Takamine electric acoustic to the collection. :devillook Although the wife wants me to sell a few before I buy another one.

phsh sell a few. Good luck getting me to do that haha. Taylor's FTW. I have a 110 (basic model) and it's amazing. IMO way better sound than martins for 400 more. Ohh and look at seagul's too they tend to be really good

As in Neil Peart from Rush? The acoustic/electric/xylophone set from "Show of Hands"? That would kick more azz than anything that has kicked azz before......

Yes, Neil Peart, but not ASOH. Those were his white Ludwigs.

There were a limited number of DW (heh!) R30 kits released. There were (are?) 30 of them, complete with gold-plated stands, and the Paragon cymbals. Essentially, it's everything the Professor had that DW & Sabian made (meaning no Roland Vdrums out back, and no MIDIKat).

They were priced, if I recall correctly at about 30k per kit. I seriously considered getting one of them, but with three sets already, and a house bursting at the seams with stuff, I'd have had to build an addition onto the place just to hold them. :eyecrazy

That, and when I suggested the idea, GP kept looking at me like this: :shifty

Here's GC's page about them, but don't drool too much on your keyboard:

I need an unspeakable discount on any Soldanoes that make their way through the "Good Stuff" room in the back corner. Also, any old Silverface Fenders....
