looking to get my windows tinted sometime this week, but not sure how dark i should get it. anyone here run across a lot of problems with 20% all around? if its going to cause more problems later, then i might just go with the darkest legal, but 32% seems too light. can you go with somewhere in the middle, say 25%?

on that note, anyone heard or tried K&L Window Tinting in Norcross?

Meh, I like lighter window tint on cars, dark on SUVs.

Also curious as to a good tinting place, with good film...I've been reading stuff about films that interfere with your radar detector, etc.

I have done 20% on all my cars with no problems.

Barry Wood does a great job (and much cheaper than a shop), he is out of Snellville. 404-392-8007

everyone on here recommended hot spot in marietta... they did a great job; the main reason for me staying legal limit wasn't really for the popo, but rather because they give you a lifetime warranty if you stay in legal limit..

Ive gotten 2 tickets in 4 months for my 20% by gwinnett police in front of the Mall Of Georgia at night, All they freakin do is sit out there at night and look for dark windows cause theres NOTHING ELSE FOR THEM TO DO!!! $56 a piece...

hmmm... i guess legal it is then, especially if they only offer warranties on legal tints. plus w/ black interior, 20% might get too dark

32% is the lowest you can legally go (aftermarket). A lot of my friends have got fix-it tickets because of their tint.

If it came from the factory with 20% then the police cannot do anything about it. Usually the factory will install that on the rear windows though.

goto Mr. Tint in Snellville. He charged me for all my windows (cept front of coarse) for 140$ and did an awesome job. Everyone around here goes to him. He lives off Web Ginn House Road next to the CDC. Let me know if you want his number. Start rolling your windows down at night lol then they only see the back, less chance of getting pulled over.

There is this guy that works for LineX off Friendship RD named Sundown. Weird name, but he does some really nice work. Also Street Toys in Oak Wood off 53 & 13 does really good work. I've used both of them before.

20% on my M3.

Jimbo give me Mr Tints info. I need the e30 fixed.

I would not trade the 20% for anything. It is perfect. No tickets or pull overs yet.

By OCGA, *last time I read it*, there is a 5% window for the limit. So thus 30% is good. It doesn't look too light.

I was planning my having my car done as well as my fiance's car. The plan was Oasis tint mainly cuz of the old threads here that liked his work and If I'm not mistaken, he uses formula one tint. I was planning on going 20% and undecided if I should 50% for the front. My motivation is entire practical, I wanna keep the heat and glare out, I don't really care about stuntin'.

its bonkers how fast tint threads die. which is a shame because the only other ones are from like 2003. :(

I've been doing a lot of searching on tint and so far I'm leaning towards getting FormulaONE tint. From what I've been told the only advantage a ceramic tint gives you is AM radio reception, all high end metallics (F1 premier/ultimate) won't interfere w/ FM radio/NAV/radar detectors. That being said though I'm still leaning towards the F1 pinnacle which is a ceramic. I've called 2 shops that install F1 (Solarworks in Roswell, and Custom Sun Control in Marietta) however I want the pinnacle 15% and solarworks won't warranty it and CSC won't even install illegal tint... Does anybody know another shop in the Atlanta area that will install & warranty (even if it's a "non-offical" warranty) FormulaONE Pinnacle 15 tint or even maybe the Ultimate 18?

I called Oasis tinting and he said he uses a carbon tint I think it was Suntech? Funny thing is I got my old truck tinting w/ FormulaONE tint a couple a years ago by a shop in Gwinnett off of Satellite near the where all the car dealerships are (I think right near the Golden Corral) and I swear the name of the shop had Oasis in it and the guys name was maybe sonny or something close... anyways he did a really good job and a few months later I drove by and found that the shop was gone, just wondering if maybe this is the same guy and he moved or something?

Also I was looking into Huper-Optik and the only shop that I found that installs it is Solar Eclipse tinting up near the mall of GA. However, its seems that huper-optik ain't all that, supposedly its still a commercial film that they're trying to adapt to automotive use by just changing the adhesive. It's thicker than the others and harder to seat especially on the rear windows of my e46 coupe. I'm sure its a great product but I'm beginning to feel that its not the end all of tints like some believe it to be.

Anyways if anybody knows about a shop that will install & warranty under the legal limit formulaone tint I'd appreciate it.

TIA

well I guess the guys were trying to flirt with me. All four of them were asking me questions about my car and cracking jokes. They even buffed my car a bit because I noticed a few smudges.

I don't know what % my tint is but it is dark. Bought the car in FLA. with the tint. The rearview mirror is useless at night for backing up. I have to either open the door and turn around or lower the windows to see the side mirrors.

I have not had a problem with the cops. I do, however, lower all windows when I get pulled over for a moving violation.

The rear quarter glass (driver's side) in my sig pic is a replacement--NOT tinted

OH SNAP! I thought oasis used formula1 tint which is why i was gonna go with them. I forget the place, but its a tint and detailing shop next to the intersection of Ronald Regan and US124 and they use suntech and told me its is wasn't as good as formula1. now I'm all messed up. Oh and you're correct, oasis used to be on Satellite, then Friendship Road, and now apparently Pike St (according to yellowpages)?

This Bridget chick, do we know what kind of tint she uses?

Now I've got 3 cars that need to be done. So I kinda wanna get all this madness straight in my head.

I'm really trying to get formula1 (Ultimate28 or Premier20, any opinion on either one?) as I have yet to come across any info that tells me there is something better.

I do also have a Valentine 1 in the works so I don’t want to mitigate its abilities.

If you find someone who will install and at least warranty their work on the ultimate18/premier20/pinnacle15 let me know. I was told by Solarworks in Roswell that the reason they can't warranty the 20% was because it's a manufacturer thing or something and when I asked if they will at least warranty their install they said no.

Concerning the V1 I've been told by several installers that the only thing Metallic tint will interfere with is AM radio reception aka the only advantage to ceramic is AM radio.

+1 for Sundown, actually he's the one that used to be in pleasant hill under the Oasis name, you can find him at either one of his two locations, one up 316 <same exit as the AMC> the other in Buford.. He has done every car I've gone through for the past 7-8 years without any problems at all, heck I even went through him for residential tinting..

I was there this afternoon looking at radios and they messed up on this guys tint and he came back and they want to charge him saying that he should of checked his tint be4 he left. And the owner is so cheap he wont even turn on the AC and it was hot as fuk there. I left
