View Full Version : America's Tire sucks!

After waiting 2 weeks for my wheels to come from Eurotech in San Diego (2 hrs from my home), I go to America's tire with 4 Bridgestone Re960 Pole Position's and the rims. They mounted them, shining the tires but not bothering to wipe off all the lube shit they left all over my wheel, and I go over to a friend's house to show them. About 2 hours later I come out to see that the rear two tires are low. I figure that the O-ring in the valve stem has not seated yet and will resolve itself. I inflate them and go home. The next morning I come outside and find that both rear tires are nearly completely flat.

I drive extremely slowly to the gas station up the street and inflate them. I take the car back to America's to find that they incorrectly mounted the two rear valve stems, misplacing the gaskets in the valve stems. They ruined the two rear tires, and said they would replace them... they also said that they only had one 245/35/19 in the whole store (probably about 1000 tires) and I would have to ride around using a spare until I got my tires. I was outraged that they could not get the tires brought the same day. They claimed that Bridgestone was closed and they could not buy tires from the million other tire shops in the area. That was on Thursday. They failed to get them to me on Friday as well, and I will have to wait till next week driving around in 3 19s and a 16!!!!

I used to work for America's Tire a while back, and it's kinda sad, but majority of the time, employees never cleaned the lube off of the wheel or tire. But with brand new wheels, they should've had the decency to just clean them up a bit.
Also, how did they ruin the tire ?
And, they should've been able to get you that last tire that day, they have a gang of other America's tire stores around, and they could've picked up one there, not to mention a large warehouse filllled with plenty of wheels and tires just for this purpose.

Sucks that you had to go through this, it's a pain in the ass.

This happened at the Torrance America's Tire and they said the nearest store that had them in stock was the Costa Mesa location.. I'd say about an hour drive- you'd think they'd have trucks to deliver tires, at least in case of an emergency which was their fault, guess not. Hopefully I'll be able to work out at least a 50% refund for the faulty job on the 2 tires. I didn't quite understand how exactly they ruined the tire, either something to do with the valve opening or the sidewall being screwed up from me driving nearly flat. Either way, the guy said they could not allow me to use them in that condition.

Hmm, it would probably be most likely the sidewall being driven on while low on air, it shreds the inner sidewall down very easily and quickly, making it super prone to blowout. And, I agree they should have delivery trucks.

Absolutely correct about the tire issue. As far as delivery trucks. With 700 stores, the cost of a delivery vehicle for each store is not realistic. The cost will end up driving up tire prices. At my store in Carson, we handle things differently if something goes wrong. It's not uncommon to see my E92 with a tire in my trunk for a customer. That's just the way I run my store.
