View Full Version : Auto Fold Mirrors on 01 750il. Can it be retrofitted
pass427 04-11-2007, 08:57 PM I looked at a couple 750il today a 2000 and a 2001 and the 01 had the button that you push to auto fold the mirrors. I was surprise because I did not know that this option was available on any US model e38. Cool option, does anyone know if it can be retrofitted on any e38 and what would it entails. Also do you think $31500 is too high for a 01 750il in mint condiditon with 36000

$31,500 sounds expensive for an '01 750iL
ucbearcats27 04-11-2007, 09:57 PM I didn't know it was rare?? Mine has it I thought all of them did, especially the 750 those have everything...
MisterPootieCat 04-11-2007, 10:08 PM $26,000 sounds closer to where it should be if it's really in mint condition with low miles, service records, and extended warranty. As mentioned, the 750 came with just about every option available. I've been told the power folding mirrors were standard on all 2001 7's and my car does have them.
ucbearcats27 04-11-2007, 10:24 PM I was just looking on eBay at some and couldn't find many good pictures but this is a 01 that doesn't have the power folding mirrors, I never noticed that and I pretty much studied pictures of these cars for over a year

kromdom 04-11-2007, 10:33 PM learned something new today.....good eye, man!
Paul01740i 04-13-2007, 12:45 PM My 2001 740i (JUN01 build) doesn't have auto folding mirrors. They were part of the "Convenience Package" (including power rear sunshade and manual side shades). I don't think auto folding mirrors were a stand-alone option. Too bad, as this would be nice to have when squeezing into some tight parking spaces...

I don't think the power folding mirrors are that big a deal. If I found a super nice 7 for sale and the folding mirrors were the only thing missing I'd still buy the car. And I certainly wouldn't spend the extra money to install them afterwards. Heated seats are a different matter, that's an option I really do enjoy!
FWIW: the original post was asking about the 750 which usually has every option available.
M62pwrdE38 04-13-2007, 11:51 PM That price is a little high, but you might pay a little more for a last year e38 with low miles especially a loaded one. I know I'd pay a little more for the "right" one.

how would you open the doors if you had to fold the mirrors in to park?
;)
BreadMan 04-15-2007, 10:21 AM Where is the button for these folding mirrors? I've got the rear shade/side shades, but I'm not sure about the folding mirrors...
Can anyone toss up a photo, or describe where they are?
Strahan 04-15-2007, 11:47 AM If you have the mirrors your driver's power window control module will look like this:

The little button to the left of the power mirror side selector will be on the power folding mirrors equipped cars.
BreadMan 04-15-2007, 04:13 PM Very cool. I just went out and checked, and indeed, I have the power folding mirrors. Thanks!
