Okay. Just got back from the one of the MD state inspection facility (in other words, a rip-off place), had to get this done to register my car here in MD. I get the car back with clean chit and everything and I am driving back home. Thats when I noticed when I hit the window switch (the master button in conv., that opens all windows at same time) that it is loose, and DOES NOT WORK if I try to close the window.
It was working just fine until the last time I checked it and actually opened the window, which was a week ago. I am so MAD!!! :mad
What do I do guys?

Get it fixed :dunno What does it have to do with going through inspection if the last time you saw it work was a week ago?

Well.. my doubts are that they broke it while working on it, because there was absolutely nothing wrong with it and now this. too much of a coincidence. oh well.. first post was just the reaction as I got home..
yea, I will get it fixed, what else can I do. hope it doesn't cost a lot.
Anyways, thanks kuper

Any state inspection I've watched didn't involve opening the windows at all.

Just pick up a new switch at BMW of Towson, and swap them out yourself. I've never worked on an e46 but its just a button. :)

you dont have to put the windows up and down for a inspection? Well at least the drivers?

He gave me a whole list of things that they checked, required by state of MD. I think it does include windows rolling up and down. I'll post the list once I have it on me (its still in my glove compartment)

usually does - many places ARE dishonest and will force unnecessary repairs,
especially brakes and lights which are easy for them to do and make a profit.
