Met a guy trying to get rid of a 96 740IL. The guy had all the records and told me he was just tired of putting money in it. The problem he had was heavy smoke (as if Snoop was under the hood) on start up and a very rough idle. He only wanted 2K so I searched the web for any common problems and I stumbled upon this board and Pilk. I read the OSV fix (atleast 50 times) and thought to myself I can do this!!! Paid the man took her home changed the OSV and plugs.................she is clean, has had all her shots, and is ready to be put back on the corner! Thanks Pilk and you can have my first born!!

I think Elvis Presley once had a hit song which went in part:
'That's when your heartaches begin......'
Above just tongue in cheek of course. Congratulations on your purchase, you did your homework and pass the test, and welcome to the forum. As you probably know by now, you will not be able to post pix (and they will be required) until you reach 20 posts, so keep talking to us, and before you know it, you'll be there. We look forward to seeing your baby.

I hope that it goes well. I think that you have a new record for the lowest price on an E38. Congratulations.

Dave is right. I passed up on a "make a offer" for a black on black e32 740il because the guy could not figure out the smoke, which was the osv issue, but I unfortunately could not even afford to make an offer at the time. Good purchase. Keep posting to be able to post pics.

That's awesome! I'm so glad it worked out for you. That really does make me happy.
Now, not that your first born isn't going to be delightful, but I'm still figuring out my first-born. So it might be better that you keep yours (and your wife might agree), but if you still have extra energy feel free to name your child after me. He or she will be the coolest kid on the block!
Seriously though, next time I'm in DC I'll look you up and we'll do lunch.

Sorry bout that 179000. I was shocked when I seen it because I have always admired this car. (real "grown folks" looking along with the pitbull like stance) My wife thought I was nuts until I let (and I stress LET!) her drive it. We have owned a GS300 and an LS but she cant get over how the E38 rides, I mean floats down the road. At 2k I felt the risk was worth the reward. Like I said all that was wrong was the OSV, everything else is fully functional. (couple of pixels out but it doesnt hurt my feelings much) Before I purchased I gathered info on all of the well known boards and for the life of me I could not understand why all of you grown men and women could not stop talking about your E38's......................I understand and I apologize!!!!!!!
Uh huh...... I'm glad your happy with your purchase
