View Full Version : Two "is this legal" questions :)
jameskarger 04-10-2007, 12:55 AM First, I installed some angel eyes today, and decided to disable the corner lights from staying on constant, now they just blink when I hit the blinker. (I may hook them back up when my smoked corners come in, but even then I'll still run the non amber bulbs), is it illegal to not have the corner lights on all the time the lights are on?
Also, is it illegal to run HID foglights an angel eyes at night? I mean, the HID foglights provide plenty of light, is there any reason I cant just run that combo?

yes as hid foglights aren't legal in the first place. Aftermarket HID's in your headlights aren't legal either so you would probably be asking for it if you were running around with bright ass hid fogs and angel eyes on.
honestly angel eyes are really gay I wish I wasn't so lazy to take my headlights apart again so I could rip them out

bs, you know you love that bling :cool

they actually really annoy me .... I like the clean headlight look instead of these shitty rings in there. I dunno I was retarded to get them 4 years ago with my headlights but they were almost free so whatever

How much? I'll take them from you.. :)
jameskarger 04-10-2007, 01:36 AM to each his own...thanks for the partial answer to my question (and for everyones 2 cents concerning angel eyes)
jameskarger 04-10-2007, 01:39 AM jameskarger decides against any statement in reference to the mammoth wing located on back of poster #5's vehicle since im sure at 238 hp one must need the kind of down force only found on jumbo jets :)
hinzm3 04-10-2007, 01:42 AM How much? I'll take them from you.. :)
I really don't want to take my headlights apart again or I would

yup all show no go
jameskarger 04-10-2007, 01:46 AM well, thats not what i was saying, but whatever. i was just saying that some people dont like angel eyes, some dont like ricer wings. maybe one day i'll have the wisdom that long term e36 ownership brings with it, but until then i'll wear my hot pants and cruise with my angel eyes.
hinzm3 04-10-2007, 01:47 AM might want to do some research on the ricer wings too while you're at it
russiamutha 04-10-2007, 01:48 AM How much? I'll take them from you.. :)
if you find me a set of e36 headlights for few days, i'll take mine apart and give you mine. they're new and have never been powered on.
jameskarger 04-10-2007, 01:51 AM 1.ricer wingThe technical term for a two foot tall spoiler bolted on the back of a Honda Civic.
I am assuming this can be modified to included BMW's w/1.5ft tall wings, no?
Phypha 04-10-2007, 01:54 AM Sound like a solid plan. I'll get to searchin'

phew this one is at 8.5" so your assumption would probably be correct if it were 1.5ft tall
SG_M3 04-10-2007, 01:58 AM lmao noob is talking about himself in the 3rd person.
jameskarger 04-10-2007, 02:07 AM jameskarger never talks about himself in the third person, he believes that to be ghey

Form follows function. Unlike the angel eyes. I don't care what you do to your car. Ray actually uses that spoiler as a spoiler, instead of a picnic table like others.

Dude, stfu SERIOUSLY. It is an OEM part. You dont have to like it, but drive at TWS going 130 mph with 238 rwhp with and without the wing and tell me you dont know the difference. It is actually engineered for the car.
Second, yes it is illegal what you are asking to do. AND GAY!
Third, it is less than a foot tall.
weaksauce 04-10-2007, 11:43 AM rice, rice, ray-be.
Ray that wing is ghey, you should take it off and store it on the trunk of my car (it would be safe there since mine has driven .1 of a mile in the last 2 months).
hinzm3 04-10-2007, 11:50 AM you can only borrow it if you store it on your roof!
jameskarger 04-10-2007, 12:23 PM i wasn't aware that the car in question spent such a considerable amount of time on super speedways. now i understand why its got the "car of tomorrow" wing mounted out back...face it, its cosmetic, just like angel eyes, and if its soooo important, some big $$$$$$ super cars have something to learn from this thread
:rolleyes

jameskarger 04-10-2007, 12:24 PM nothin like planting the rear end of a car known for terrible understeer!
Stück 04-10-2007, 12:56 PM Maybe your junk box is known for terrible understeer.
I don't think a single other car in this thread will share that characteristic.
You are a arrogant and ignorant.. Go ahead and do ur angel eyez n hid fogz. Thats what any ricer would do....
Everyone else in this thread is an enthusiast.. we track our cars instead...

As much as I hate to agree with the noob, E36s are understeering pigs. I swapped the front strut mounts on mine and it made a huge difference. Later I got some camber plates and it was great. If you are tracking or autocrossing an E36, I'd highly recommend it. More negative camber up front totally changed the car for the better.
On the wing subject I'll have to disagree with him. Check out the ricer wing on this sucker. Yep, it's functional, even at autocross speeds:

understeer? says who? only time I've really had problems with understeer is when my rear sway bar tabs broke or when the car was running staggered wheels.
My car try's to spend most of its time in the following position but yeah theres def some cosmetic reason's to it as well of course.
I'm not saying you're gay because you have angel eyes its gay to want to drive around with just them on so you can show them off. I'm starting to see chevy trucks and honda civics run around doing that so talk about ricer....

jameskarger 04-10-2007, 02:21 PM i really didnt want this to turn into this..but it was odd how quickly everyone turned to bashing...i was asking simple questions, never asking for opinions...like i said earlier, to each his own, and your car looks sick, i only mentioned the wing because im sure a lot of people who dont know bmws think yours is riced...
hinzm3 04-10-2007, 02:27 PM meh it is riced :D
you should know by now all threads in the tx forum turn into a shitfest
SecretAznSauce 04-10-2007, 07:50 PM the only track i have been on is buying a car and selling it....
meh it is riced :D

That is because no one here really likes clean shit.. The new wave of bmw enthusiasts are 16. They are just hating because they dont have the $1k to drop on a wing.

My uneduacted guess is that it's probably the last session of the day and they're just showing the flag workers their appreciation.

in sport bike terms that means I'm going to pit. I was just wondering if Ray was passing people, mad racer style, when they were trying to pit.
Just f-ing with ya' ray.
bimmerd00d 04-11-2007, 03:18 PM i've unhooked mine from the parking lights, they only provide pathway lighting when locking/unlocking now. They look tacky in my opinion.

Austin 04-12-2007, 01:17 AM Everything goes in cycles one day is cool another its gay. VW seem to be using angel eyes alot.
I still think angel eyes look good on BMW's. I dont blame the other cars for coping that look its like a compliment that some peoples goal is to be more like what we have. Their closet BMW fans.
ParadigmGuy 04-12-2007, 04:26 AM My angel eyes look good. I don't need a wing to keep my rear planted.

Yuh you're going to need something else for your kinda hp.
