my 528is auto with 130milles has started to vibrate under load does it alot in first if i am heavy on the gas and when every a floor it. when im lite on the pedel even going 100 on the hwy no vibration only if i punch it. now in the past on other cars iv owned this has been a Ujoint problem but im told there is no Ujoints just a center baring that can be replaced toward the front and a guibo that cost 140$ that can be replaced if its anything else i have to replace the whole driveshaft complete at a cost over a grand. anyone had this problem or heard of it??

I'm brand new to my E39 but a worn guibo on my '94 E34 caused the same thing after 105k miles. It's pretty common.

I had a similar problem and took it to the BMW dealer and they wanted to replace the whole driveshaft. I replaced the guibo disc and replaced all seals/fluids and it is now much improved. If the driveshaft itself is bent or if a weight has fallen off, you can try to find a local shop to rebalance it. You can also find e39 driveshafts pretty easily at most junk yards.

You're probably right, just the guibo, but at 130k you might want to think about either a new driveshaft or have yours rebuilt. Saves aggravation later on.:cool

The Roundel usually has a BMW driveshaft specialist advertisment.
