hi all, I just wanted some advise from the pros. I installed a new HU on my 1999 323IS, everything works great except the tuner. My FM reception is very poor. i know it has to do with the "thin" antenna wire i guess it's called the power antenna wire? how can i hook this up to my new HU, since I only have room room for the regular antenna (with adapter)? Is there another way to improve reception? any help will do....thanks in advance

I'm assuming you are referring to an OEM HU? Did you use an antenna adapter on the new radio?

this is a mistake i just made and remedied on my e46. out of your head unit, there's a blue wire. usually i use this wire as the remote for my amps and, since i've never actually had a car that has a powered antenna, it's always worked fine. these fancy smancy BMW's, however DO have powered antennas. so make sure that blue wire is connected to the power antenna wire of the harness to the car. then, of course, make sure the antenna adaptor is plugged in secure to the HU and the antenna. hope that helps some
