i just picked up my 328i convertible, and it doesn't have an alarm, though it says it's "prewired" for the bmw factory alarm. the only thing is, i can't find a bmw factory alarm for sale. i found this brand "stellar" that says it's a bmw factory alarm replacement. i'm assuming this means it will plug right in to the factory prewiring just like the actual bmw unit would. anybody have any experience with this alarm?

i guess i should have also asked:
does anybody have a better alternative to trying out this unheard-of brand?
either another aftermarket brand that plugs in to the factory prewiring, or someplace that i can find a bmw factory alarm for an E36?
thanks in advance.

I have the stellar unit that is keyless entry only and i like it alot...these are by no means unheard of for our cars...actually they are the only company i could find that makes an aftermarket "plug and play" alarm/KE unit for our cars....

Yes. Autopage! Autopage dot com has great aftermarket alarms. I have the Autopage XT-72 series. They are the alarms that have the little LCD screen of a picture of a car(different looks on different model alrms) and it beeps/pages you when somebody touches your car or hits your car pretty bad. All of the functions on my alarm work especially the remote start button. I use that when I want to warm up my car for a bit first. I just press that button and it starts my car while still keeping doors locked. Anyway, I am sure you have seen these before, I just think they are great!
