Excidium28 04-09-2007, 12:45 AM I dont think anyone sells one, so it would have to be custom. I've seen an E36 twin turbo set up on the board but dont know much about it. Schneller Bayer 04-09-2007, 01:19 AM redforcedbmw had a TT project, but I believe he sold it, and I don't know if it ever got finished. Shuasha 04-09-2007, 01:25 AM George at ICS did one on an M Coupe, but he hasn't mentioned anything about it for about a year. shawn5096 04-09-2007, 01:33 AM George at ICS did one on an M Coupe, but he hasn't mentioned anything about it for about a year. i remember that, im still curious as to what happend to it. :) Keaton 04-09-2007, 01:52 AM I dont think anyone sells one, so it would have to be custom. "What's the first rule in government spending? Why have one when you can have two at twice the price? So doctor, want to go for a ride?" oops, wrong movie. But yeah, two manifolds, two air cleaners, two intake pipes, two wastegates, two downpipes, two two too much money for the same power. Too cool for school if you pull it off though. :stickoutt gboezio 04-09-2007, 10:41 AM Staged turbo arrangement would be nice tough, some mini turbo that spools at 2000 RPM and a fatass turbo that can stuff the engine like a prom night turkey. You rule! My wife wonders why I love that movie so much. But I am a big dreamer and that movie is about big dreams and big realities coming true for the person who doesn't get involved in the politics and keeps believing in the truth! Shuasha 03-09-2008, 02:17 AM Feel like I'm going through a time machine *beeeeboopbeepbooooooopbeep*Ding* Okay...does the community still think twin turbos are pointless? Yes. Cool to look at, but it's twice the stuff to have issues with and you don't power over the appropriate turbo for your goals. Silex 03-09-2008, 02:45 AM When you say "power over" you mean implement two...let's say...300hp turbos and expect them to output 600hp, correct? I follow you there, but it sure "looks nice," haha. Especially this (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=867801) one. Especially this (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=867801) one. I mean that even though you're using two turbos, you're using 1/2 the exhaust gas per turbo. A properly sized turbo will make the same power with the same spool for way less hassle. Still doesn't look as cool. :) rundatrack 03-09-2008, 11:30 AM You rule! Silex 03-09-2008, 03:35 PM The ICS Performance M-Coupe makes 600rwhp on nearly all pump gas on twin turbos. A V6 makes more sense to do this to as they manifolds are already separated on either side of the engine. Running two turbos has its benefits including same overall mass flow of air, but with half the heat each turbo is exposed to. It's just weird BMW used two manifolds for an I6. Then again, the x35i are still TT as well so BMW must know something we don't. izzy325is 03-09-2008, 03:51 PM hey look guys i'm manager for the largest truck washing company in the world and everyone knows that semi's run turbos pretty much all of them are twin turbo and semi's are straight 6's they way they have them hooked up is the exhaust goes through the first one out of the exhaust side and into the 2nd one. the 1st one's charge pipe goes into the intake of the 2nd one making it spool very fast so it is being forced on both sides of the turbo it has to be efficient. i thought of making a top mount that runs off the front 3 cylinders and making the charge go into the intake of the back one that is running off the back three cylinders but the downpipe would be a bitch. if someone understands this and can make a picture it might make more sense IMPORTEDCARS 03-09-2008, 04:43 PM i remember that, im still curious as to what happend to it. :) She is sleeping... :) she runs great! I will be upgrading her some more this coming spring. 607rwhp and 604rwt stock motor, stock fuel line, stock fuel rail and regulator, low compresion h/gaslet .140, head studs, twin GT28r's, Custom Nick G tuning, custom fab 666. Also I forgot 6 speed trans and a 2.93 amonst other mods. :) -George Kakaletris |
