I am planning on buying a TT stage 2... The question I have is what is the best way for me to build this engine so I will get the Maximum performance and achieve Maximum reliability? Im not paying for it(gift) and I want everything done the first time so I can invest in other areas of the car.

tt 2s just requires a hg...no need to build the motor

shouldnt I build the motor... wouldnt it last longer, or couldnt i get more out of this kit with cams, springs, large valves...

I want this car to be very responsive, got a light weight flywheel, planning to do the pulleys, and 6spd and differental...

why build it if you dont need to? many guys with these kits run them for thousands and thousands of miles with just a hg...

and usually you want a heavier flywheel with turbo cars...

The Lightweight flywheel on turbo cars has been debated here several times.

As far as rebuilding the engine, probally depends most on 2 factors, How much Power your looking for, and how much money you want to spend.

If stock rods will hold the power your looking for, then pretty much just Forged pistons and refreshing the bottom end will do. If you want major power, throw some rods in there.

The head/valvetrain will most likely depend on how high you wanna rev.

So how much power are you looking for max? Inless its much more than the Average tt st2, might be a waste dong any more than a HG + studs(though if its a gift, i guess it would just be wasting your time).

i want to get as far as i can on the revs... but I want a reliable engine... i dont want any problems... 500rwhp would be nice(would i want to upgrade to gt35R)... but I think much more than that might just put me in jail... as i might become LEAD footed!

A gift without a price tag? If that's the case I would recommend going custom. I like the TT kit. But if you don't have a cap on your budget you could get more power and be just as reliable.

gift?

Build the hell out of the motor, and get a GT42R

Wow, what did you do to deserve that?

Single 35R
Metal HG
Flywheel
Clutch
New flex disc (guibo)
Oil Cooler
Intercooler
TIAL bov
TIAL wastegate
Electronic Boost Controller

Forged Pistons - if you are going for high HP or "maximum reliability"
Forged Rods - if you are going for high HP or "maximum reliability"

If you don't care about price than building the motor should be done, get CP 8.5:1 pistons and Arrow rods.

Building the motor and using the TT stage 2 kit doesn't make much sence though since this kit is designed to work with a stock motor other than a MLS HG.

.

No need for that meng

Disregard that link...those guys are thieves.....

Do some more research get the power numbers you want

Then a budget will be easy to produce

Don't ever build a motor unless you have to! Stock motor IS the most reliable platform if you are in its limits.

if you want a built motor with a tt kit why dont you take your car to nick and have him build your car to his specs with a stg 3 setup...i remeber seeing a tt stg3 m coupe that made roughly 520 whp... search for ruckman or something like that

I agree partially. If you have the funds, I don't see any reason to not build the motor if you are going for 500 RWHP. If you're going for 300 RWHP, don't build the motor.

I dont necessarily agree that a built motor WONT be reliable, since that is what your statement is implying.
