View Full Version : So I waited too long to take DD, what to do?
Greg S 04-08-2007, 10:22 PM Well I got a ticket for 76 in a 65 on 1/10/07, I plead nolo contendere and had 3 months(4/10/07=Tuesday) to take DD. Well like the lazy ass I am I still havent taken it. I can take it online and that shouldn't be a problem. BUT, I need a certified copy of my driving record which takes 2-3 weeks by mail.
It says if I fail to comply(meaning DD certificate, certified copy of driving record, and a notarized affadavit) then I will be issued the remaining balance of $55 as well as a warrant issued for my arrest resulting in an additional $50 owed.
So is there I way I can get a certified copy of my driving record tomorrow? If not is there a way I can avoid the $50 charge for a warrant being issued? I assume I get a point on my record too, does that mean my insurance goes up?
Thanks.

"After completing the course, you will receive a State issued Certificate of Completion via US Mail within 7-10 business days. If you prefer, overnight delivery via UPS is available for $25.00. To receive your Certificate the following business day, you must complete the course by 3:00 pm."
depending on when UPS delivers to your area, and when you have to be in court.. it's doable... but barely?
Thats for the course, but not for the driving record. As far as I know, you can't get it any faster. It usually shows up faster than what the state says it will, but it won't be one day.
I did the same thing but remembered in enough time. I think if you go to the court with the course certificate, you might be able to ask for an extension, but I'm not really sure on that.
Greg S 04-08-2007, 10:51 PM Topher, that part isn't a problem, its the getting a copy of my driving record that's a problem. I call Denton court tomorrow and ask for an extension or something I guess.

Nagative, I found a way around that involves me driving to Garland and Denton.

almost as bad.
Greg S 04-09-2007, 12:30 AM Only reason I'm doing it is so I don't get the point on my record, I could care less about the money. Hell, doing this online and having shit next dayed is going to cost me $75 anyways vs $55 for just paying the ticket. Oh, and a day off work :(
PS-I'm on a mandatory 12 minute break now :( .
