What did you think of it? Did it look kinda wierd or stick out too much. I really want a clean look.

Though i cant help you out with the BMW content, i will say that ive been very happy with my Alpine IVA-D310. I love the pulse touch feature and the menus are easy to navigate. However, when searching on an ipod it can be sluggish.

I have the Panasonic CQ-VD7003U. No problems so far other than CDs with labels. Wish it had visual effects when playing a CD or Radio instead of just showing the info but I still recommend it

I like the Panasonic unit. IMHO it has the best screen :)

They all block the vents unfortunately. I believe there are some pictures are www.mybimmer.net

They also have the double din bezels for the e46.

I have the Farenheit(Power Acoustik) In-dash SINGLE DIN unit. It is almost exactly as the JVC Single DIN . They look great. They fit onto your vehicle nicely and you dont have to worry about sliding screen in and out of unit. The ONLY negative thing is that obviously the screen is smaller(3.5-3.6 LCD Scrren) than the other 7' LCD screens BUT...BUT, it looks as if it goes with your car more naturally.

Single din flipout screen is an easy install. Just need an off the shelf kit, wiring harness and antenna adaptor. Doesn't look pretty, but it is the cheapest option.

Double-din requires custom work and costs a lot more, but looks OEM. You need to buy a trim from bmw to relocate hvac controls, buy or custom build a trim and do some cutting. Here's a link to a double-din install we did a while ago:
