After i few minor issues i have the megasquirt working great on my e34 3.5 m30 motor. John (urinemachine) did a real nice job building it and getting everything together for me and has helped alot along the way. My car is crazy fast now and really fun and easy to tune. I don't have to worry about leaning out or blowing something up like with the stock set up. I still have to put the idle board back on and mess with it and i have the expansion board that i need to add but those are just extra goodies. Here are a few specs:
Megasquirt1 extra with 3 coil drivers.
3 accel dual tower coils running in wasted spark
60# high impedence injectors
gm manifold temp sensor
gm coolent temp sensor
inovative Lc1 wideband controller and sensor

Thanks again John

Justin good to hear how it is working so well - sounds like you're going to have a handful of power to play with. Couple issues involving your setup (if I knew you were running low resistance plug wires!!!) had us held up for a day or two but all is well. Looks like I won't have to fly out to Sunny CA afterall ;)

Glad you're enjoying it man.

Wait, so could I use megasquirt for an obd2 car? What's the difference in doing a mega-squirt and a greddy e-manage ultimate?

Thats kewl your running Wasted Spark, im really considering switching to it and ditching the distributor. How much you pay for those Coils and what are the specs?

You running the Siemens deka 60# injectors? those are the ones Im using , I like them.

How much boost you running?

Another successful MS setup.

OBD doesnt matter with MS, it is a complete standalone computer. It does not work with the stock computer it completely replaces it. That is also the difference between the MS and E-manage.

He's running about 15 - 16 psi last time he called me. The coils are Accel coils with 45kv discharge and ~2.6 - 2.7 ms dwell.

As soon as someone gets it working on an s50 vanos and stock COP and all, I'll buy one.

Car is my DD so I cant afford to be fucking around troubleshooting shit

i don't think your requirements are out of the question. jon has already built systems to handle that.

UM has stock COP working fine, and the single vanos is a simple on/off switch and pretty much any standalone can control that.

However no standalone is going to be a install and forget affair you are going to need to have it tuned atleast once and if you do it yourself it will take a bit to get everything worked out.

Yo jay a weekend we didn't hang out, damn! Any news?

Well it's already working on a M50TU and the user is going to be testing vanos control relatively soon

There is no reason MS can't be daily driven - I do it every day. However, like any ECU/Modified car, it may need trouble shooting and patience.

Exactly - even if you get it tuned once, that's great and all but you'll always be tinkering with it once you know what stuff does.

And of course always leave room for minute issues in wiring or anything that may get mixed up etc. But, I have had great success in about 5 cars now ranging from M20 to M30 turbo to M50 non vanos turbo to M50TU, now Jfdmas is up wiring his M52 turbo up and JordanMD88 is going to be doing his M52 turbo this weekend.

Have you gotten the idle control valve to work properly yet? That's a must on DD.

Yes, we have.

However, it's really not necessary on a DD. Without an idle valve your idle is like 600 while warming up. About 30 seconds later its normal. No big deal.

Anyone been through an emissions sniffer yet?
Theoretically it should be fine, but UM can use a positive result as another selling point.

Now, what about an e46 m3, Jon?

+ a fuckin million.

I love the fact that a common (well not that common) enthusiast took on the task to tackle a new-ish EMS in Bimmers and succeeded. Doing work usually reserved for big tuners who fly cross country to tune. This is the stuff we've all been looking for.

Are you implying that it's possible to just rip the ICV out and plug the hole?

Would this be with a standalone or could I do it on my DME and then adjust idle like a 4 wheeler etc. with the TB?

I could understand that if it was a MoTeC, but a pre-assembled MS setup for a BMW should run you 1k TOPS (of course that would be half of what your car is worth :/)
