Any tips on prep, type of paint etc.... thanks, matt I wouldn't recommend doing rattle cans for bumpers, but seeing as its a track car I can understand. You really can get fantastic results from spray cans if you know what you are doing.... Basic help Sand down unpainted bumpers and prep, clean off. Primer surface, sand 800grit sandpaper, repeat, let dry Light coat of your paint, let dry, then a heavier coat, let dry, take some 800 -900 sandpaper let it sit in some water for about 30 minutes. Then take a spray bottle of water and keep the painted surface wet while you lightly wet sand. Clean off, let dry repeat. Then final coat of color paint, let dry. take your clear coat and do a couple layers 5 - 6 should do it, here is a DIY I did for some wheels, its the same basic steps. (all with rattle cans) I hope you are getting your alpine white paint from tower paint. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=540480&referrerid= Hope that helps, Pm me if you have any questions Steve N magnetic1 04-06-2007, 07:33 PM Matt... i cant paint for you if you want. Matt, just use the grill paint that I use for everything. A black bumper would look hot on your car.
