Ichiro 01-31-2003, 11:41 PM http://www.salon.com/tech/wire/2003/01/31/bmw/index.html
Anyways, you guys hear this?
I was kind of surprised to read that only 40% of all X5's made were sold in the U.S.
Wow, that sounds like one to get fixed in a hurry...
martin.w 04-20-2003, 09:54 PM This is an update to the front brake caliper hose .Two clips are installed to hold the brake hose in place .
The rubber hose on the car has a built in retaining grommet to hold on to the strut ,in isolated cases it comes loose.
I work at a dealer and only 1 in every 20 have been found to be loose.
Went in yesterday for the recall.......recieved it early march but just got around to taking care of it.Didn't seem like a big deal. Also had to have both front door pulls replaced for the 3rd time....they keep chipping......wish they'd figure that out,hehe......oh wells.
Katt :D
Preppy 05-11-2003, 03:05 PM Katt, did you get the door pulls replaced for free? B/c ours are bubbling AND peeling

Yep,no charge all three times, under warranty. It is annoying though. Is it the first time it's happened in you're X?

Preppy 05-12-2003, 01:06 AM Yeah, first time...but it looks NASTY...I'll call my dad in the morning and have him bring his car to the dealer. Thanks for the info Katt :D
Franchise 05-25-2003, 06:27 AM if this same problem has happened in a year...then after the third time your car is declared a lemon and you are supposed to be given a brand new car under the california lemon law.

hansbismark 09-24-2003, 09:59 AM That really sucks!
Mattx5 12-02-2003, 02:10 AM My car also had to have the grips changed a few times, its real quick, no charge. Of course they should figure out a more permenent fix, but the dealer keeps me happy.
BAVARIAN323i 06-22-2004, 12:49 AM Whats the "door pull" and for what year is this recall for?
WhiteE30 10-22-2004, 02:11 PM for sll x-5's that have the door handle peeling, happens quite often if you ask me.

sardil 01-31-2005, 05:59 PM Damn, I didn't know the dealers were fixing the door pulls for free. I thought I'ld have to be stuck with that forever!!

So when you say Door Pulls you guys are referring to the Door Handles...?? Correct? Inside or outside? what part starts to peel? any pics?

It has to be safety related, You wont get a new car because paint peeled on your door handle.
tulsax5 09-11-2005, 06:19 PM What year X5's is the recall for?
lightm5 09-27-2005, 05:36 PM damn, mine just went out of warranty, I wish I had it replaced. It looks nasty, but I think even if I put new ones on there, it would peel, so F it!
m3beemer16 09-28-2005, 04:43 AM someone post a pic of what it looks like... my parents got a 2004 x5 I wonder if this problem is fixed?
eugenem3 02-03-2006, 04:20 AM Good warning, does that apply to all of X5s?
JuddsonX5 02-18-2006, 08:11 PM yeah my shit peeled too gawd damnit.
GT3Austin 11-04-2006, 03:25 AM Is the coating peeling on the interior door release handle or on the exterior?
I'm under warranty but would like to keep and eye on this.
Thanks!
