View Full Version : walked u vs EstorilM
Walked U 04-05-2007, 03:16 AM So got to meet up with a few people on BF.com
EstorilM brought his evo out to play.
Im not sure what he has again but he can elaborate. What i can say is his car is a beast. from 60 and 80 mph rolls he would take me by 1 to 2 cars and hold it all the way to 155 mph. Just awsome car. :buttrock
From what i remember. K&N filter, turbo back, 100 octane tuning, injectors, fuel pump, cams. Lightened fly and clutch. Running on 100 octane gas. psi peaking around mid 20's.
My cars mods : procede running 91 octane.
Few pics of his engine bay.

Anyways we did like a few more runs but I couldnt get them on video since my head was in the way :(
Nice meeting EstorilM tonight was fun.
fusionchicken 04-05-2007, 03:27 AM good vids sherwin.
he has a IX since the valve cover says "mivec"
as far as i can tell he has a stock BOV and stock intake. the line in the heatshield is the EGT probe used to monitor exhaust gas temperature from inside the car. his upper IC pipe is stock so i assume he has a stock FMIC.
it's late but his engine bay looks bone stock from what i can see....other than the T into the BOV line for the boost controller.
hopefully the owner can chime in with what cams he has, and what other mods he has etc.

ya for sure. the car runs very strong from up top. You need to come down here chris for the next meet
fusionchicken 04-05-2007, 03:38 AM for sure man, just let me know and i'll try my best to make it out next time, weekends are more ideal though =)
EstorilM 04-05-2007, 05:20 AM Hey Sherwin,
Ya you have it dead on.
these are the mods:
K&N filter, 2.75 inch downpipe, 3 inch downpipe back, 100 octane tuning, 720cc injectors, walbro fuel pump, cosworth 272 cams. exedy twin disk cerametallic clutch. psi peaking around mid 20's but dies down to about 18-19psi at redline. stock turbo cant hold boost up top.
all in all they were good runs but most definetely need to do it again from atleast a second gear when the traffic lightens up. even though like you said your head was in the way would you mind posting up the other vids or pming them to me?
thanks a ton. See you around man:buttrock
McoupeBobby 04-05-2007, 05:22 AM the evo is my buddies.
his mods are: cams (not sure what kind) reflash, 100 octane tune, fuel injectors, clutch/fly, turboback exhaust, k&n drop in. Thats all I can think of at the moment, maybe hes got more I forget.
either way good run.
see you all next wednesday!
McoupeBobby 04-05-2007, 05:24 AM DAMN sina posted before me lol
BavariaMotorist 04-05-2007, 10:35 AM Just a question... why didn't you remove the limiter w/ your procede? :\

They havent come out with that feature yet. They are still toying with it. also toying with launch control, vanos control and 100 octane mapping. :)
PlayerN07 04-05-2007, 01:42 PM If you woulda had ur ///m3 out there u would have won... Estoril gives u an additional 100whp...

Walked U, just curious. Aren't you supposed to be taking your boards or something. I noticed that a while ago. When I was taking mine, I unplugged my tv, and went incommunicado for weeks. You must be a lot smarter than I am to be this active. Kudos!
PresaMat 04-05-2007, 02:20 PM Very interesting. Walked U as usual thanks for the great videos. I wonder how you would do with 93 or higher octane with exhaust (and shivs newer maps). Any idea the dyno on the evo? EstorilM - very nice evo those cars never cease to amaze me. Price per power is the best on the road!

ya Im waiting for the 100 octane maping to come out. That should help a bit i hope.
Rez90 04-05-2007, 02:50 PM My question is, where the hell can i find 100 octane fuel?!?!
If i could find that, i'd have much less of a "I hope my car doesn't blow up" feeling in my stomach when i'm on it......lol.
If i could find 100 unleaded at a pump it would be my dream come true.
fusionchicken 04-05-2007, 03:36 PM hey EstorilM did you ever get dyno numbers for your set up on 100 oct? also who tuned your EVo?
there were 2 or 3 members in socal with IX's and Cosworth cams making 380-390whp on dynojets on 100 oct., and making 350-360whp on 91 oct. - just wondering if you're pretty close to those numbers...
BavariaMotorist 04-05-2007, 03:40 PM How much does 100 octane cost over there?
I always use 93 on my car.

fusionchicken 04-05-2007, 04:17 PM 100 oct. local to me is about $6 or $7 a gallon, not sure about the OP since he lives about 35 miles from me.
Why not do exhaust while you wait for the tuning op? but your car rocks my socks!!
gti1689 04-05-2007, 04:52 PM wow, the evo just pulls and pulls. i'm impressed.
evo connevo 04-05-2007, 05:23 PM Thats what I like to see:buttrock
EstorilM 04-05-2007, 05:40 PM How much does 100 octane cost over there?
I always use 93 on my car.

Hey man,
The car has never been dynoed, Scott Grey tuned my car on a street tune/flash. the numbers you posted are most likely from alfred from tuning technologies dyno shop. but with a street tune i am somewhere around 370whp on 100 octane. i need to get it dynoed soon.
EstorilM 04-05-2007, 05:45 PM Hey i just noticed something...
in the first vid i remember i was slowing down tryin to talk to you but caught me off gaurd with your honks so you got a good jump.
in the 2nd and 3rd video they were 80mph rolls as i was in 4th gear both times.
none the less sick pulls and it was nice meetin you man:buttrock
fusionchicken 04-05-2007, 06:19 PM thanks for the reply. are you on socalevo.net? my IX is tuned by Scot too, great tuner.
and yeah those numbers were on TT's dynojet with Alfred's tuning.
did you get 370whp from the datalab log? or is it just an estimate? i'm curious what the norm whp figure will be for a IX with cosworth cams and injectors on 91 oct. (basically my next 2 mods, except i might add an o2 housing as well)

Ya scott is the man, my name on socalevo.net is Sinajoon5.
370whp was just an estimate. an o2 housing is great but the guys are RRE were stearing me away from doing that until i change my turbo. they say the o2 does help with power and spool up significantly but something with the install/labor was a pain in the ass.
kiley_sean 04-05-2007, 06:24 PM WOW. I thought AWD cars hit a brick wall at 100?
:D
fusionchicken 04-05-2007, 06:27 PM ah...i've seen you around before on the board.
yea installing that thing is an absolute PITA, only reason why i havn't done it yet...most shop wants at least $300 for install.
if you still want to install yours maybe when i want to install mine with some friends you can come over and get it done at the same time, let me know. there's a guy in fullerton who did it himself and has the right tools and is willing to help me.
fusionchicken 04-05-2007, 06:27 PM WOW. I thought AWD cars hit a brick wall at 100?
mine does =(
kiley_sean 04-05-2007, 06:32 PM Maybe check for boost leaks or 600lb Gorilla wedged in your undercarriage?
Yours isn't that limited edition 3-speed, is it?
fusionchicken 04-05-2007, 06:38 PM Maybe check for boost leaks or 600lb Gorilla wedged in your undercarriage?

hahaha
did you catch the thread a while back with my IX running Walked U? i have tbe, mbc, filter, fuel pump, and tune on 91 oct. and after 110mph i'd lose by a car or so
i wonder how EstirolM's Evo woulda fared on 91 oct., esp. above 80mph...
kiley_sean 04-05-2007, 06:51 PM Naah..sure didn't.
I'm glad to live in a 93 octane state. :redspot
Is race gas that hard to come by over there?
I must live in a drag racing state, because we have at least 2 or 3 places in the area that offer 100 & 104 (unleaded) and 112.
fusionchicken 04-05-2007, 08:27 PM we have 100 oct. stations here too :)
i didnt get a 100 oct map though when i got tuned, becase i know once i know what that feels like i aint pumping 91 oct. anymore, and that is going to rape my wallet.
