View Full Version : Solution to Cover A Car with a High Wing?
jmciver 04-05-2007, 02:48 AM My E36 M3 will have a LTW (tall) replica wing installed. Unfortunately, my car has to stay parked outside so I usually keep a car cover on it (made of Evolution 4 fabric if that means anything). With the wing on the car, the rear of the car cover will not completely cover the back of the car.
I am curious to know what methods other racer types have used to solve this problem before I start cutting my current cover.

I think we may even use a 5-series wagon cover...but it still doesn't reach our rear bumper. :D

lol, might have to look for Hummer car covers for your wing :redspot
m332is 04-05-2007, 08:29 AM We use an e46 Touring cover... covers almost the entire rear bumper with the PTG wing. If I was to do it again, I woudl look for an e39 Touring cover.

jmciver 04-05-2007, 09:13 AM Thanks for the responses guys. Afew more questions (for all of you).
1. What type of fabric are these covers?
2. What was the best price you paid for them?
3. Where did you get them and did you have to wait (i.e. were the covers in stock if bought from a dealership)?
dmwhite 04-05-2007, 09:20 AM 1. mine is a noah cover

If you are using a tall LTW style wing, and not the PTG wing from MAShaw (really really tall - about twice the height of tall LTW), then you can get by with a pretty much standard cover.
I have the factory BMW E36 cover from BMW, and with the replica tall LTW wing, it fits, covers down to and incudes most of rear bumper. Don't have a pic, but can take one when I am at VIR the weekend of April 13th.

hyboost 04-05-2007, 09:29 AM I have a Covercraft Noah cover for my Supra that fits the E30 M3 really well and covers over the Evo3 extended wing nicely. It may be something to look into since the Supra car cover is formed for the large supra wing...
get one for a mini van.

Yep, mine fits too.
jmciver 04-05-2007, 03:07 PM I have a cover (designed for an E36) that fits pretty snug. I guess I will give it a try.

How far down does the E46 wagon cover go on your car?
I have an E36 with the MAShaw PTG wing and I need to get a cover for it. I'm debating between the E46 or E39 Wagon cover.
Thanks.
m332is 05-08-2007, 12:58 PM I think it covers at least 1/2 of the rear bumper cover. You can also see some of the rear portion of the side sills. All in all, I think it does the job and is a rather nice tight fit. But unless the E46 Touring cover is a lot cheaper, I would probably suggest an E39 Touring.
