Taking a job in Mountain View, so I'll be relocating to somewhere in the surrounding area from RTP, North Carolina. I'll be bringing a spec-e30 prepped 325i, and an e36m3/4.

I'll start my relocation around April 23rd, starting at work April 30th. Looking forward to meeting you guys! Looks like there are a number of great tracks to choose from, but I'll probably always miss VIR :) I'll start looking around for recommendations for groups to autox with, but I'd imagine you guys could make a few strong recommendations.

Join the Golden Gate Chapter of the BMW CCA. We got a good group of auto-xers here. Three great tracks in the local area. Laguna Seca is only about 40min away from my house in Gilroy. Hope the move goes well and welcome to the south bay!

I work at the GOOG as well. If you have any q's about goog or the area feel free to bug me (PM me and I'll give you my real email addr).

I autox with a few random groups ... I do most of the ggcbmwcca events, but also show up at AAS, SCCA, UFO (out this season). I'm going to try out a Lotus club event in a week or two. There are lots of groups to choose from. You could probably autox every weekend if you were willing to drive. Check out this calendar: http://www.sfrscca.org/solo2/cgi-bin/schedaction.cgi?autox&where=all&Next_three_months

I'm on a quest for more seat time, so I end up wherever I can get the most runs. BMWCCA gives 7, SCCA only 3, AAS is 4 or 5. The Lotus club gives 10 or so, but I have yet to confirm this.

^PM sent. Sounds awesome, I'm really pumped about the area. I doubt I'll be too competitive at autox, just going out for a good time. I've had a decent bit of hpde/time trials at Rockingham (infield configuration) and VIR (Full and North), but I'm really looking forward to tracking out there. 6 runs (25 min each over two days) is pretty typical for groups in this area, some groups run 8 twenty min sessions.

The fees for an event at Laguna Seca are pretty $texas :(

How did you manage that from the East Coast, did you fly out here for an interview or something?

Curious...what will you be doing?

I dunno about callahanw, but I was hired out of Kensucky, so in my experience there are a few phone interviews then onsite interviews. And on the other end as the one doing interviews, this appears to be the case regardless of a candidate's location.

Yeah, I was hesitant to go into too much detail regarding the interview process. I've signed more than enough NDAs to make me paranoid. I, like most candidates, had a series of phone screens and an onsite interview. Pretty common process in the tech industry- or in most industries I'd imagine.

For the spec e30 and track days, check out nasaproracing.com. They have Time trials and competition racing.

PM me for more info.

Will do! Haven't run TT w/ NASA yet, so that may be a ways off still. I had prepped the car to legal spec to run TT with a local group- THSCC.
Current state of the car is:
IE camber plates, h&r race/bilsteins, delrin cabs, ie sways, carbotech xp10 pads, team dynamics 1.1 wheels w/azeni rt615, kirk roll bar, corbeau seats, 6pt harnesses, otherwise full interior. Other misc stuff, c-arms, tie rods, braided brake lines, etc.

I run pretty consistently in the 2:31.xx in TT at VIR-Full. A little on the slow side compared to the spec guys, but I still have a good time doing it :)

I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but that sounds like a complete list. I'll definitely shoot you a PM whenever I get settled in!

My e30 also made the trip. Any recommendations on a cheap place to get a catalytic converter welded on?

Anyone want to hit up castro street :redspot

Awesome dude. I'll actually be living on Church St, so pretty close to downtown as well :) Might actually head out there a little later tonight.
Definitely let me know if you need a hand turning wrenches on your e36.

Took a job w/ Google.

What are your plans at Thunderhill? Is there a club race going on, or are you running an HPDE. In either case, I'd definitely be interested in heading out there if you want some company.

^Thanks dude :D

Hey Sorry,

I know it was last minute, but right after I posted I started packing cause I found out my friend was leaving that day, and not the day after. Must say, thunderhill was awesome, track was a little hot, so V710's got a little squirmy, but I must say it was scarey sitting in with some of the gutted cars. I'll share some pics soon.

Congrats on the Goog's job. I have alot of family there, I was thinking of working for them, but with all the fam there, I figured I should do something else :-p Plus it would suck seeing them at work, and at home.

Muffler shop? Turbo hoses is good, but pretty pricey. What work are you looking for exactly?
