View Full Version : My car vs C300 SRT-8
Well i just came from a soccer game right now. My friend the golie has a c300 srt-8. I'm like lets race. lol So there's this long road on our way home. We line up. No traffic in front nor behind us. Actually there's my frined Honda accord 2-door behind us honking to hurry up cuz we stop so we could take off from a dig. Well he's ready he honks 3 times we take off. I get a good take off. First gear dead even, 2nd gear he front bumper is at my door. Right when i shift to 3rd that think just starts hauling. Damn i get smoke not funny. Those thinks pull hard. I was like 2 cars lenghts behind when we got to the next light me on fourth gear. Damn. We drove normal from there and we gave the thumbs up.
darkness95m3 04-04-2007, 08:40 AM Yup those SRT8 are not to mess with.
slickav 04-04-2007, 09:08 AM Seems like thats when he got traction.
Atleast your a good sport about it :buttrock
Deuuuce 04-04-2007, 07:06 PM When I passed a new GT after he got the launch on me by 1-1.5 CLs, it was in 3rd gear at about 80mph. Sounds about right. Nice run.
You guys think i'll be able to take it with a ts supercharger?
fireballbmw 04-05-2007, 02:23 AM nice run.. those srt-8's are quite fast!
FrankW 04-05-2007, 04:11 AM Seems like thats when he got traction.
Atleast your a good sport about it :buttrock
if you are going into 3rd it means you're already going 65-70 at least. I doubt he got that good of a burn-out all the way through 2nd. lol
must've really floored it after seeing you take some lead? :D
mihalis 04-06-2007, 12:11 AM nice run, those things are monsters from what I have heard. Even the Grand Cherokee SRT-8 tears things apart!
JustinCSVT 04-06-2007, 12:51 AM It seems like he was playing with you. Those cars will trap 108+mph in the quarter off the lot. That's C5 Corvette territory.
ohnoes 04-06-2007, 01:06 AM Spoiled rich SoCal high-schoolers. :rolleyes
I am happy I no longer live there...

NO, now you live in another place where there's spoiled rich high schoolers.. :shifty I hate ffx...
BavariaMotorist 04-06-2007, 09:17 AM Socal is worse although Fairfax is pretty bad, but I think the kids in Fairfax have more class.
VivaM3 04-06-2007, 09:50 AM You guys think i'll be able to take it with a ts supercharger?
yes...without a doubt
*EDIT* - i suppose i'll elaborate...i doubt if a twin screw will automatically give you close to 425hp/420tq like the SRT8, but i'm sure you can come close with enough supporting mods. also, i don't think you need near that much power/torque to take an SRT8...they weigh just under 4200lbs - that gives you close to a 1000lb weight advantage. plus they look like they have the aerodynamics of a brick (and although looks can be decieving, i'd be willing to bet you'll encounter less wind resistance in your e36 than a 300C will), which should help you on highway runs.
Deuuuce 04-06-2007, 09:53 AM My experience with 2 different E36 M3s with FI was that they were easily low 13sec cars. I was very impressed with how fast they were.
badbimmer1984 04-06-2007, 12:12 PM then can trap 12.5's on street tires (not likely cause they are damn near impossible to launch right) my buddy has one (its 300C not c300) and even it it's really nice out and dry he still spins like all hell on launches (or even rolling launches) but he raced a turbo'd m3 and they were about dead eve, it was kinda damp out and his srt spun like crazy. but they are nothing to mess with trapping very low 13's easy. there's a video on youtube or streetfire of an srt 300C running on the highway with a e39 M5 and they were about dead even.
ohnoes 04-06-2007, 12:14 PM NO, now you live in another place where there's spoiled rich high schoolers.. :shifty I hate ffx...
Haha, they aren't nearly as bad in Fairfax as they are in SoCal.
McLean, Langley (near CIA headquarters), Vienna, Tyson's, Great Falls, maybe even Fairfax Station? Now we're talking really spoiled. But Fairfax per se? :dunno Few kids at my school have nice cars. Most have Volvos, Hondas, American cars, a few E34s, a couple E36s, several E46s, a Hummer H3, a Mustang GT with those stripes on the body, and a few others. But really nothing too extravagant.
Trust me, SoCal is so much worse! One of our old neighbors had a Rolls-Royce that he loved to spend every weekend washing and polishing. He then proceeded to let his 17-year-old son drive it to prom and for other events. Now that is true ballin'.
Deuuuce 04-06-2007, 12:34 PM then can trap 12.5's on street tires (not likely cause they are damn near impossible to launch right) my buddy has one (its 300C not c300) and even it it's really nice out and dry he still spins like all hell on launches (or even rolling launches) but he raced a turbo'd m3 and they were about dead eve, it was kinda damp out and his srt spun like crazy. but they are nothing to mess with trapping very low 13's easy. there's a video on youtube or streetfire of an srt 300C running on the highway with a e39 M5 and they were about dead even.
Let's not exaggerate. The 12.56 run was a one-time only, hasn't been repeated since. He had a 1.87 60ft as well.
Regarding traction, with the automatic, weight and decent and fairly fresh tires (F1s, not so much the RSAs), along with track prep, 2.0 60fts are the norm and some have seen 1.9s.
Now in the cooler weather, cooler asphalt and worn tires, yes, traction is more of an issue.
But yes, low 13s are the norm. The E39 M5 race is pretty even, but far more SRT-8s hitting 12s stock than E39 M5s. However, once at 120mph, the shift into 4th (1:1 ratio) starts to kill the SRT-8 and the M5 should hit 150mph about .6 seconds sooner.
Shodanusmc 04-06-2007, 02:55 PM 150? Lets talk real world ok. In populated area's, you are lucky to push it up to 60-100...and thats pushing. Stop light to stoplight basically, unless you take it to a Runway at a major airport.
How you liking your Charger? Coming from the Jeep SRT to the Charger, I am really liking it. It seems to get faster everyday.
BMW5868 04-06-2007, 06:42 PM Nice try -with F/I you definately have a chance. An srt-8 c300 took a run at me on the hiway, tried to get the jump on me to get ahead for the exit lane onto another hi-way. I put the pedal down at 120 kph shifted to 3rd and stayed his advance, going into the ramp (rated at 70 ) at 160 accell out in 4th to 240 kph and srt way back. Slowed down to merge and srt fly's by like he has something to prove. Only had a run in with a 300c off the line and i took him so badly, lots of smoke out the back but didnt hook up.
Shodanusmc 04-06-2007, 06:49 PM Damn, you just sucked up $25 of Canadian gas when you floor it.

xcentric 04-06-2007, 07:11 PM anyone with 335 get a chance to run a charger/300c srt8 on here?
BMW5868 04-06-2007, 07:20 PM any dyno/track numbers with your blown 740?

Not as yet - next week they're re-doing frt cover to accomodate a intercooler, and the new hs5 W/A system is being put in place of 2s. Then its time to see whats up.
Blown srt sound pretty sweet - this is just my cruiser, i had a 565 hp a/c cobra that i built and sold to my buddy that i still have access to though, might make it interesting.
Re-read - a charger srt8 - not a blown srt8 - oops - real nice, real fast. Where u boys in T.O.?
PlayerN07 04-08-2007, 10:39 PM Wat mods do u have done? If ur stock i think tht was a pretty good fight u put up.

Z3speed4me 04-09-2007, 11:19 PM ya know one of them srt jeeps tried to run me the other day, it was almost funny how its still not fast at all
l3it3r 04-10-2007, 07:14 AM ya know one of them srt jeeps tried to run me the other day, it was almost funny how its still not fast at all
Must not have been an SRT8 then. :rolleyes
but yeah, my neon's faster :stickoutt
enuff4speed 04-10-2007, 08:01 AM ah 96 M3
Shodanusmc 04-10-2007, 08:37 AM ya know one of them srt jeeps tried to run me the other day, it was almost funny how its still not fast at all
Nice M, but the Jeep would have taken you.
Z3speed4me 04-10-2007, 09:53 AM ummmmm definately not... im not talking about its 0-60, or its 1/4 which is still a LITTLE bit slower then the s54, but i was at like 80 already and went to about 120, no way its top end is like mine... ive taken a cayenne turbo, its not much faster than that car
the srt8 traps at like 101-102, m roady traps like 107-108 thats a HUGE difference
ok i exagerated when i say its not that fast, wow people apparently arent allowed to extend the truth, o wait this is bf, thats ALL people do around here is stretch the real story, my fault maybe i should go to the mercedes forum where apparently there is an overwhelming beliefe that every car is the best car ever made and faster than f1 cars???
edit: yea ima say it, bc its a bfc thing, "i woulda had him in the twisties"
e34gasm 04-10-2007, 10:05 AM :lol oh man, this was worth reading just for the atrocious grammar. Please tell me English is your second language!
Shodanusmc 04-10-2007, 10:14 AM Then the Jeep would have taken you from 150 on up. Soon Jeep SRT will be available with the limited edition Twistie Edition. Its a $600 upgrade.

WTF :confused
Z3speed4me 04-10-2007, 10:56 AM anddddd its english class today too, yea this place will never change
might as well flock back to the z3 and z4 forums where people who arent english majors can go...
maybe its just me, but this is a FORUM not a writing seminar, last time i checked there isnt a grammer moderator here...
Deuuuce 04-10-2007, 11:18 AM It would help if we could understand whatever it is you're "trying" to write.
BavariaMotorist 04-10-2007, 11:40 AM Stop being douche bags.
You understand what the guy's saying. He's just lazy in his typing demeanor. DOES IT MATTER?
No.
Please remove stick(s) from anus.

Virginia has 2 of the richest counties in the Country, even more so than Orange County! Man those people in McLean are LOADED!!!
Z3speed4me 04-10-2007, 01:09 PM wow someone on my side that actually remembers bimmerforums is not british lit....thats simply amazing to me
honestly, if you cant understand what it is that i am writing, then you truly are the one that needs education more so than i do
its not like i am writing in latin, its english, just not capitalizing and putting periods, is it really that hard to actually read what i wrote, i think not...because i have been doing it for years now, and honestly this is probably the first occurance where someone really had an issue with it and claimed they couldnt understand something. soooo maybe lighten up a little bit, go be an english teacher if you really feel it's necessary to correct every gramatically incorrect post...
you people have some serious personal issues if something like my typing style on an online ummmm whats the word, O YEA...informal forum REALLY bothers you, maybe you should get out more???
....at least the guy with the rolls cares about his car and washes and waxes it himself. do you think its strange to wash your car every weekend, bc i am absolutely certain there is a large percentage of people on here that do it in an almost ritualistic fashion
l3it3r 04-10-2007, 04:42 PM Virginia has 2 of the richest counties in the Country, even more so than Orange County! Man those people in McLean are LOADED!!!
