I own 330 XI E46 (2001), what I am thinking of is to install N54 turbo engine in to my car.
I don't know whether engine bay of E46 will suit for N54 (there are examples of installation of 5.0 engines in to E46) but I need to know that exactly.
If the engine will suit for my car do I need to change Manual transmission of E46 to E90?
The other question is whether the Xi system will handle an increase in power and torque?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

First you'd have to find one and it will probably cost you about as much your car is worth. Save yourself the headaches and just sell your car and buy a 335.
BTW have you looked inside the engine bay of a 335? It's CRAMPED.

That being said, anything is POSSIBLE, just depends on how much you want to spend.

Here in KZ prices for E46 in good condition are above 20k, thats for year 2001 and up.
Conercning model E90, I don't like interior as well as exterior of the car. My friend owns BMW 335 Coupe, I was going to check engine bay by myself.
I have found some answers, but what frightens me is an Xi system, don't know how it will handle how to adopt it

I was told that the old E46 Xi systems were rather weak when it came to handling power. I had inquired about doing a massive turbo setup on an Xi equipped car in the past to compete with the likes of Mitsubishi EVOs and Subaru STis, but I was told that massive torque would essential chew up and spit the Xi AWD system out of the back of the car.

I've heard the same, anything around 300hp, even a little less will absolutely destroy it.

WOW! I am shocked that bmw wouldn't make a rally car out of it...I guess now I see why.

not to mention the oil pans are way different. on X models the front diff is mounted on the left side, and the half shaft goes through the oil pan over to the pass side.
