This guy had a really souped up Mazda. Old two-door model but heavily modified. I pulled in first gear but then he passed me when I was in second. I didn't race him past 60 mph. Oh, well.

I did "kill" a Mustang the other day. It seemed like it was way too weak.

Maybe its muffler bearings were loose.

thanks, yeah, I am not sweating it. I am thinking that having a few upgrades would be nice :) I don't know a whole lot about it and almost never race. I have been looking at Dinan.

Yeah, It may be alot older than you and everything and not look as appealing but its next to impossible to find one that is stock, and with modifications those things haul ass. Dinan is good stuff no doubt but its way more $$$ than everything else out there. Just look around at everything before you choose!

I killed a 3rd gen. mazda RX7 at 130 miles. There is a thread about it here http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=716135
That was while rolling over 80 MPH. If it was from a stop probably he woud beat me. Still some people there were saying that was BS and I didn't beat him. But there is no way I am bullshitting. Anyways I was going to th Post Office yesterday and I think I saw the same going driving in the opposite direction(not highway). If I meet him in the highway I might race him again for fun.

the supercharger looks very interesting but I wonder if that will require upgrading other components, such as brakes, etc.

His HP is like 50 less and torque is 100 less. Does that make any sense?

The car also weighs 3/4 of what the 540 does. Imagine a bodybuilder running down the street with a 100lb backpack, then think of you running down the street with a 50lb backpack. Who will win?

He may be stronger but he still wieghs alot more.

Well you only talk about weight. How about suspension, handling and other stuff. Don't say RX7 in those specifics I mentioned is over BMW. I don't think so. By the way I said this on my thread too on the same road because of that torque I went up to 150 MPH in 5th gear very quick. I don't know if RX7 can do that as quick as 540i6.

Actually, it's probably the sweetest set up ever.

RX-7 looks and LS1 power without the 60% percent of the time, it works every time rotary engine.

Have you ever driven or ridden in a rx7? Its an old car that was way ahead of its time. A second gen rx7 with upgraded shocks/springs (too old for the stockers to work) and an intect DTSS system will kill a bmw in the corners.

I have KYB's and Eibachs on my FC and I had bilsteins and H&R's on my m3. I tell you no lie when I say the m3 couldnt turn at 2/3 of the speed the mazda could and stay stable.

Dont sit there and think Im bashing bimmer, the only reason I sold mine is because, a stickshift doesnt make a practical DD for my girl and it wasnt fast enough to justify keeping as a weekend car. Im looking to buy an automatic right now.

Older rx-7s are fast, but you can never find one that still runs, except for a few choice ones with rebuilt motors. Back then they hadn't quite perfected the reliability of the wanker rotary motor.

Well my race against 3rd gen RX7 was from 90-130 MPH straight in highway. No curves no nothing. And I've said before that this wasn't from a complete stop. But still if somebody says stock RX7 is better for every race that's a BS.

There nothing wrong with the motors just the drivers. When the manual says to change tho oil every 3k or to NOT OVERHEAT the motor it means it. Ive owned 7 different rx-7s and have never had an engine go on me. I beat the crap out of the car like it was meant to be beaten. I shift at nearly 9k I do donuts till i break my poly mounts and do standstills till the tires are bald. But i also perform proper maintance exactly when Im supposed to.

Of course Ive had other problems but ive had the same ones with the bmw. Old cars have problems.

The guy is a highly opinionated wank and one of the biggest 540 homers out there. He's convinced his 3rd hand, 10 year old, chrome trimed 540 will beat any Japanese car out there. Has a real bitterness there:dunno No point replying, the guy is beyond reason if you couldn't already tell.
