View Full Version : Go Speed Racer, Go Speed Racer ... Gooo!!!
millertimebmw03 04-02-2007, 02:15 PM So you all know what time of year it's getting to be. Time to bust out the bling bling and get topless. Also its almost time for the drag strips to open. And I am %100 aware BMW's are not drag racers and surely the topless versions are the furthest thing from drag racers. ha ha
but i'm wondering what type of times people run in the 1/4mile??
My best is
15.6 at 89MPH with 18" chrome rims and and auto tranny (96' 328ic)
What about you guys?
Don't laugh at the ending, this was about three weeks of anticipation between my friend and I. He striped out EVERYTHING (sound proofing, seats, carpet EVERYTHING!)
ENJOY!

its a little overwhelming at first - especially if your first time out is in an instructor car and they are showing what they can do.
at the autoxes that ive been to, the instructors drive your first lap in your car so that you can check out the course without having to worry about driving it. its not difficult at all. just be sure to leave your ego at home so it doesnt get damaged by the timed runs. :)

ComBIRDable 04-10-2007, 09:35 PM i know. i have never seen another one besides mine and yours. :loveIt will be really funny when I run the Divisional later this year against all the STis and Evos and RX-8's in my humble 'vert.:embarrasm
millertimebmw03- do a search in the track forum. About once a week someone asks about how to get started in autox. Read some of the threads there for advice. Find a club in your area that puts on events, and go have a good time. Here is a link to some useful novice info:

i highly recommend auto-xing with an association that offers driving instructors, like the BMWCCA.
