Hey guys - anyone in the Pittsburgh area know anything or heard of Five Star Used Cars? They have a techno on modena 98.5 M3 sitting in their lot, and I called searching for more info. The only thing they could tell me is that they bought it from an auction, they are sending me more pics later (hopefully).

So does anyone have any info on the place, or more specific - this actual car in their lot?

TIA!

Yes, its a deep purple - here's a LINK (http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/inview/detail.jsp?car_id=190677660&dealer_id=1392800&car_year=1998&dealership_view_name=www.fivestarusedcarsinc.com&sort_type=make_modelASC&cardist=25)

They did seem shady when talking to them on the phone - but I thought maybe it was a diamond in the rough...

Yeah, that car has been there for 2 years, no joke. Its the ACS one right? I lusted over that car ever since I was a junior in college...I'm now out of school for almost a year.:)

I didn't know they were scandalous, just thought they were asking too much...possibly because its an ACS.

yeah.. and i talked to some other sales spots on that rt. 51 strip and they all talked about how shetty they are there. Lets just say they dont have a silver name.

BUT.. depending on what you want the m3 for.. it still could be work a look if you can fund it. if your gonna start replacing stuff with performance parts anways..then just make sure you have a solid block for starters and go from there.. but like i said.. it has been there forever. the have a green one too i tihnk..but i dont know if its still there.

Yeah I had two friends look at that car a long long time ago, they both ran from it, but I can't remember their excat reasons at this time, I know alot didn't match up... But no lie that car has been on that lot for 3+ years and has sat outside and barely moved the entire time...

I just read the car fax on it but I swear that, that car has been on there lot longer then that...

I did run a carfax - and I know that it hasn't been driven often for 2 years, just due to the mileage records that were found from running the report.

I'm going to stay away from this one - thanks guys.

It's just such a sexy color combo!

I was just emailed those pics...if anyone wants, I can forward you the email they sent to me.

The car looks a little rough around the edges, but with some tlc - this baby would look gem. However, who knows about maintenance, etc..

CarFax is the most unreliable consumer BS out there.

Take it to a reputible BMW shop BEFORE you buy it for a PPI. Pay the extra dime to be sure.

If its an auction car, it most likely has frame damage, etc. The small dealers love buying wrecked, super cheap cars, and then having a crappy bodyshop yank it back into position and make it look nice.

And it seems like all car salesmen from Pittsburgh are idiots?

John - I would certainly have a PPI done before purchasing most any car...especially something as shady as this. I don't think this car is even worth my time to travel out to western PA. I'll use my miles elsewhere.

Thanks for the advice guys. ...still searching for that perfect m3.

I stopped and looked at this car when noone was at the dealer on saturday. It looked reasonably clean....The only ACS part I saw on it was the ebrake handle...It also had 3 guages in the sunglass holder slot, assuming oil pressure, oil temp, coolant temp? The LTW wheels are in good condition, clear lights all around. Modena interior was "fair," body didnt seem to have any dings in it, paint looked reasonably well..especially after sitting outside for so long.

Not that this helps much, the cars still been sitting there since forever ago. Had $15,900 price tag on it. Price seems ok, but wonder why its been there for so long?"

That car has been there forever! I swear I saw it when I was looking at cars 3+ years ago. I wouldn't waste my time on it esp. coming from S. Jersey. Also, is it just me or does one pic look like a convertible and the other one look like a coupe? (Nvm lighting threw me off). Plus there are no PA inspection stickers on the car. I would drop a huge <_< on that one.

Fixed!

Has that car really been around for 2-3 years at the same place?
