Well, this happened last summer, during the West L.A. Sports Car Meet. It was basically an organized drive for about 50 Supras, 30 300ZXs, 20 RX-7s, 20 Vipers, some Porsches and some BMWs.
The horsepower on this particular day varied from your "lowly" M3 at 240hp to an absolutely insane nitrous enhanced Viper pushing 800+ hp and another Supra pushing 700+ hp to the wheels. Absolutely insane. The parking lot of the Pic-N-Save where we all met sounded like the start of an F1 race with all the noise we made.
The run was mostly canyon roads and the occasional nice open straight away to let our cars open up. On one such road, there happens to be a Black Supra TT right behind me. As soon as the passing lane opened, I knew he was gonna get on it. So I dropped to 3rd at 60mph and waited. The instant he pulled out of his lane I punched it.
Surprisingly, he didn't pull on me at first, I held till about 120. After that though, he started to pull ahead, but not nearly as fast as I would have expected. We continued to go at it until he was a full car-length past me and then we shut it down.
At the next stop, he came up to me and was quite surprised that I could hang so well until he came up next to me and heard the familiar whine of the SC. He had an automatic and the basic BPU mods, boost controller, exhaust, etc. All in all, a good run and one that made me proud to have ///M Power!
