So today while driving my check control display (the display in the instrument cluster) chimes and reads "Code Tacho". I have no idea what this means so I call the guy that always works on my BMW, and he has no idea never even heard of it. Then I call the dealership, and of course they also don't know what it means and tell me that the car isn't programed to even throw that code to the check control display. I was just wondering if anybody else has had this come up, and what it meant?

Shit...I'll know I shouldn't be driving if my MID starts screaming at me, "Ich will Tako Bell!"
I've never heard of it either, but I'm guessing it's got something to do with your tachometer.

I think that the instrument cluster is sometimes referred to as the tacho in Europe. (as opposed to just the tachometer)

The tach is the obvious reason why it said "code Tacho" but i have no idea what its trying to tell you.

To get rid of it, unhook the battery both positive and negative leads, and use a long screwdriver to connect the terminals together. Use something to cover the battery post so the terminals and screwdriver don't toch the post on the battery. Wait about 15 mins, and hook the terminals back up to the battery posts. Start the car and drive it around for about half an hour to 45 mins to reset the cpu. This should get rid of the Tacho code. This is not a joke.
