I lowered my roof after 3 – 4mths, cleaned the car and flattened the battery!
After jumping the car, drove to golf course and after parking attempted to raise the roof.

The ‘storage’ lid only opened an inch and stopped!!??

Tried lowering and raising several times B4 giving up

Played golf and came back to the car approx 4hrs latter.

Tried again..same thing, lid only raised an inch??

Drove home and after consulting the manual and Internet, manually opened the lid (pulling cord under the rear left passenger seat) and manually closed the hood.

Tried lowering the hood to check operability but it only unhooked and rose, but the storage lid wouldn’t move at all.

So gave up and went inside as it was cold and dark.

Next morning tried again. Roof raised but still nothing from the storage lid so manually opened and lowered hood and closed ‘storage’ lid
Manual advised removing rear left trim in boot to reconnect motor so tried and attempted raising roof automatically.

Nothing happened…so raised roof manually again, checked that motor was properly ‘engaged’ and tried to lower roof automatically.

Absolutely nothing?? The roof won’t even lift off the windscreen!!??

Read some more of the manual and realised that I hadn’t done the Initialization part! :o(

I now have a continuous flashing roof switch and a noisy motor sound every time a press the switch.

Does anyone know how to get things back to working order please??

Thanks Yomi

just an FYI, making multiple identical threads in different places is very much frowned upon.

sorry, i am not sure what to do about your problem.

I had a similar problem when I bought my car 2 years ago.
The car came with a hardtop & the previous owner hardly ever used the canvas roof. The motors all went out of sinc & my 'storage' lid decided not to open anymore.
But I took it to Gilberts of Ealing ( BMW & Saab specialist ) & they sorted the problem quite easily & cheaply one morning.
Basically reset all the motors using software & diognotsic unit.
Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.
