So.......

I've had my M3 for 3 days and I'm still in baby mode. :)

I love it.

Anyways, so my boy and I took her to the car wash, Danny's Family Car Wash in Phoenix, AZ. On Camelback. I paid my $50 for a wash and windshielf fix (cracks).

As the car goes through the wash I think of all the possibilities...., machine crashing on the car, acid coming out of the jet sprays, and the nails shower at the end of the ride. The usual.

Of course it's stupid. Nothing happens.

We wait for the finishing touches and then the call is made. "White BMW!"

We walk to the car, I hand him a shitty tip ;-), and place my son into the car. As I enter the driver side, I notice 3 wires sticking out from between my shifter knob and fabric. WTF!?!??!? Ummmmmmmm.... yeah.... uhhh....

So I ask, "Dude!?, ... what's with the cables sticking out of my shifter?"
"I donno, was is for?" asks the dude with bad engrish.
"Who know's man, you tell me... "

I proceed to tell him that I've had he car 3 days and I'm pretty damn sure there wasn't any cables sticking out. He looks at me, and starts to coil the cables around the shifter. WTF!? Homeboy got some fucking screws loose.

After some bitching, and him telling me he's the "Manayer" he tells me that one of the other guys went to shift into 1st and the knob came off, ripping the cables out.

Did he kick it into gear? Fight with t? He's like 4'9" and am sure he's not some fuckin' Strongman candidate.

I had to pull the shit out of it just to pop it out a second time in order to have them fix the problem so obviously thre was some foul play here.

Long story short, I hate them, fuck them, NEVER GO TO THESE GUYS IF U LIVE IN PHX!!!!!!, and I'm going to be the biggest dick ever (working in broadcast has it's perks. ;-) .

So...... be aware and trust your car wash place. As for me, I'll be learning alot more about my car washing it myself. :-)

k. I'm done.

Did the shift knob light up before? I bet it doesn't now, does it?

Did the shift knob light up before? I bet it doesn't now, does it?It does now that it's fixed, but yeah.. it was the wiring for the lights.

Not a big deal, but it still sucked. I like that little light.

He's friendly.:D

I always wash mine by hand. The shift knob has a shitty design, any hard shifting and it comes off in your hand.

A new knob will last very solid for quite awhile.

It's the one time that it decides to give way and then it's never the same.

fcukes.

same here. dont ever go to the car wash on the corner of frank lloyd and hayden cobblestone.
douchcocks locked my car then, stick a wire hanger in the window to unlock it.
they fcuk up the inside door handle.
until i get in and my fcuking handle is fcuked.
what do they think everyone is stupid.

i get the manager, lieing through his teeth, never admits damage, but schedules to get car fixed damage they caused at my house/work.

dumb as a kite staff from the guy that looks like they just hoped the border to the redneck rude prick of a called manager.
ALWAYS double check your car b-4 you drive off!!!
hard to find a decent car wash that can take pride in their job.

what else can you expect from people that get payed 5 bucks an hour and dont know what their doing.

Congrats on the car first of all. I remember the second day I got mine, I had to take the car in to this local car wash (first, and last time) It was an emergency lol. I didn't notice any scratches, but waiting for the car was real tough. I thought about all the wrong things that can happen just like you haha. Them reving the heck out of it, or them putting it into reverse instead of 1st gear and hitting the car behind them.

But yeah, good thing you got it all sorted out, and +1 for washing the car yourself lol.

The mechanic that did my PPI pulled the shift knob off when he was driving it, they just get loose as they get old. Got a free PPI though

:rofl :rofl Ever see that Carlos Mencia skit where he teaches the white people to talk like beaners so they can "Take their yobs"?

I hate that shit though. I can be very cool if someone comes up to me like a man and admits that one of their people broke something accidentally. That "it was like that when i got in" attitude does nothing to help them.

Dang that sucks. Don't ever let anyone wash or touch your car. Especially here in Phoenix. Lovely people we have here with da bad engrish.

+1. From what I've read on the forums, 90% of people give themself a black eye (from pulling to hard and hitting themself in the face) while trying to remove/replace their shift knob.

And yes, you should hand wash it. Especially since you have an E36. It is very easy to flood your DME(ECU) with the high water pressure that comes out of car wash places. For some reason, the DME compartment is not sealed off and if the windshield drain is clogged with leaves, etc, the water can back up into the DME compartment. However, it might not be a problem on later cars like a '99.

And yes, this happened to me within a month of ownership, on around the 3rd(and last) time I had it washed at a place like that.

That's what I'm saying. I'm not a fucking moron and if one just admits their faults, that's cool. Fix it and we're on our way. I do it all the time:stickoutt i fuck up, but it's not fair for the person you are faulting to have to deal with your mess.
