I have a potential job offer in Destin, Florida. I have never even heard of the town and am not familiar with the Florida panhandle. I have family in West Palm Beach, and have been to most of the rest of Florida.

How is the surrounding area of Destin? Are there big cities nearby? How is the cost of housing in the area? Any other information that you guys could give me would be great.

I will be moving out there in about a year.

Closest cities are going to be Pensacola and Tallahassee, neither of which are real metropolises. I live in Tallahassee now, for school. Cost of housing is amazing. It all depends upon what you like in a community. Don't expect a whole lot to be going on. I'm from the DC area, so it was a heck of an adjustment period for me.

you would have a good amount of rich people living around you, and lots of shopping. in the area you got Tallahassee, pensacola, and panama city.
new houses are also being built there every 13 seconds as well

I just got back from destin, florida for vacation. There is quite abit of money in the area. Went to destin commons shopping center. I was surpised to see like 4 bentleys. Quite abit of hott girls in the area too. The city is sorta slow moving. People are nice, are curisious when they drive. Alot of miltary supporters up there. If you want to get in a job with miltary contractor engineer or such. Its a good places like BAE, sverdrup, etc. There is a DLP movie theater there which Orlando, Florida barely does. LOL

It will be cheaper to live there then SF by far.

The water/beaches are amazing. Im moving to navara area which is like 45 minutes away. I am going to UWF. Like 45 minute drive but I want to live for dirt cheap at family friends house on the beach.

I have lived a lot of different places, but I seem to really thrive if there is a medium sized-large sized city nearby. I am in culinary school now and this is a potential offer for an externship.

They will not be paying for my relocation, so I am not sure if I can take it, and the pay isn't all that great.

Destin is great. Very clean and relaxed. Tally is the closest big city, followed by New Orleans and ATL. Pensacola is kind of boring and Panama City is just kind of blah too. Have fun.

Tallahasse is like 2 and half hours. ATL is like 5-6 hours spending how u drive. New Orleans I think is like 4-5 I beleive.
