Greetings. I just bought a 1996 328i and while i am driving my dash panel lights come on and off, what will cause this?? The dealership said all bmw do this at one time or the other?

Next time you speak to that dealership, tell them to provide better information or f*ck off.

does the light go off and on completely or fade? if on/off completely, you probably have a poor connection somewhere. i believe some have found that a certain capacitor in the gauge cluster was the cause. but honestly, it could be many things and you probably just have to follow a process of elimination and figure out where the problem is. one obvious thing to check are the ground connections as the nut can come loose over time.

yes, most of the time they are working fine.. a few times a day the whole panel lights up, even the low gas light for about 30 seconds, then back to normal. This is my 1st bmw.. i have always been a mercedes man in the past. Thank you
