View Full Version : 8 series widebody
HellKat 03-28-2007, 01:46 AM I am a longtime bmw owner who has owned many different models and modded many very extensively. I am just becoming recognized for my custom widebody work, and was contemplating doing an 8series custom widebody. Does anyone have any pics of any 8 series widebodies? I am very curious to know. I have in mind something looking like a modern M1, but would like to see what others have done. Very excited, please help! Thanks
fliplap 03-28-2007, 02:08 AM Pics of your M3 GTR, now, right now. Don't delay, right now.
I see you're in AZ/CO, how about bringing that M3 GTR out to one of the AZBMW.org meets?

Oh, it is in the shop...
haha jk
No, actually it is my current front burner project, an m3 gtr replica, I actually get many compliments on the car(when I push it into the driveway to work on), but the engine will push out more ponies(many more) than a gtr motor and the suspension setup is great, so it could almost run with a gtr... with the right driver. Actually, i finished another one similar to this, and they are begining to get pretty easy for me, which is why I want an 8 series...
Sorry, first day here, renaming my rides.
Oh and all I have found on the 8 wb is the black koenig I have seen a hundred times before.
LoveMy850i 03-28-2007, 03:04 AM yeah the koenig is the only one I've seen. I love the look of the koenig. I am looking forward to hearing more of your potential project.

Shrouded 03-28-2007, 09:01 AM I think a widebody e31 would be a very beautiful car. Im used to widebody P-cars and corvettes and love the look on both. I couldly hardly imagine how appealing a widebody e31 would be.
TerryY 03-28-2007, 11:29 AM Look thru the galleries at www.clube31.net I think that all of the wide body conversion done previously are pictured there in the Tuning section.
ZeeMax is the only current seller that I know of and they only sell the front and rear spoilers/bumper covers. The installer builds the fenders to suit.
reddragongti 03-28-2007, 12:53 PM zeemax has a nice one (i don't like the front bumper, just the widebody):

RANE2001 03-28-2007, 05:08 PM Love that car!!
reddragongti 03-28-2007, 06:09 PM i'm guessing you could easily fit 20x13s under those rear fenders...

TerryY 04-03-2007, 10:23 PM So far i don't think that anyone has been successful at getting an Alpina replica that was properly made. I know the guys in the UK have not.
E-mail the poster of the picture on clube31, Hafner --click on his name below the picture-- to see if the German owners have had any luck with getting good ones made.
Don't even bother to ask Alpina unless you have a B12 5.7 and proof of ownership--they make NO exceptions to their parts rules. And beside that it is well over $6000 at last count and is probably at about $7k now.

Gpower.de makes a very good replica. But at $6000.00 plus shipping I passed on it.

I am curious, how much did your engine work cost total? (Feel free to PM me) Thanks!

I have not calculated the total for just the 6.0L conversion yet. I had a lot of things done at the same time (6 Speed conversion with CSi transmission, High Torque Spec Clutch with Light FlyWheel, Schrick Cams, Higher volume MAF and TB, and a lot more). I will try to itemize the things and post later. Ball park is $10K+ for just the 6.0L conversion.
