Hi, This is my first time here in the world of Bimmerforums I have a 1991 325IC when I bought the car the power top was not working and the motor was missing from the trunk. I don,t mind the manual top but I need to replace it. Bavarian Auto recycling has a top that is in good shape but it is a manual top from a 1990 325. Will the manual top and frame use the same mounting bolts as the frame for the power top. I would like to get the top off of the car that they have but if it does not fit they will not take it back.
So does anyone know if the frames are the same or not.
Thanks Moldman62

i believe there are a few things to do in order to swap from power top to manual top.

all the research i did (i was looking into buying one of those) leads me to believe that this is a good conversion to do. i guess the power tops for the e30 convertibles is known to break down and require expensive repairs or replacement.

in case you werent aware, your car is an e30 3-series. the majority of people that post in this convertible section are e36 3-series owners. you will propbably get better answers if you search in through the e30 section of the forum.

yeah, it just kind of happened that way. the majority of people requesting the convertible section just so happened to be e36 owners. i believe the admins wanted to make a general convertible forum for all 3-series convertibles, but they just decided the lump it in with e36 stuff. occasionally e46 and e30 stuff does show up here, but its kind of rare and the threads dont usually get too long. hopefully they were able to find help in their respective main sections.
