it worked perfect since i bought the car. Last time i put it down was a month ago when i was putting in the back window. I go to put it down today and nothing!!! it doesnt even react when i hit the button, the windows dont go down or anything. What happened????? this is on a 98 328ic

okay i reset the top and now the light keeps flashing the led for the switch...whats that mean?

did you hold the button down for a few seconds after the top closed??

the last time i opened it?? im not sure possibly, well now i was outside playing with it and the windows starting opening. They would start to open then stop, start and stop took them really long to fully open. Then when they finally went down, and it was time for the top to open it started making clicky noises from all around couldnt tell exacltly where it was coming from and thats it wont open!!! WHATS wrong!????

The clicking sounds like one of the top's motors might not be engaged?

what should i do to check??? ahhh it finally gets warm out and my top is stuck up :(

Look in this subforum for the how-to's dealing with resetting your top. They are stickied at the top. One of the .PDF's will show you how to check the motors.

i did reset the top that made the light start blinking, and then i reset it again and it made it start to move and that clicking noise. and then after that its done, no noise, no blinking.

came back from work today topped worked perfect touch of a button. Came out 10 mins later...nothing doesnt respond when you hit the button. What can be wrong????

now i disconnected the battery for an hour and i hit the button and again the windows go to open and stop, open stop, open stop, then when its the tops turn it just makes weird noises!! HELP me before i go to the dealer!!!

sounds like an electrical issue. good luck with that one. :(

Soo this morning the top started working it opened half way and got stuck, wouldnt move either way, Theres noone on this forum who can help? i got it back down doing it manually but what the hell is wrong

I wonder if one of your microswitches is busted, perhaps it's an intermittant problem.... possibly the one for the trunk....

ok i did all the reseting possible, lowered the top manually dropped the engines, follow step by step and it still doesnt work!!! what can be wrong???

Mine was similar several years ago. I had a bad fuse. Visually it looked good, but when checked with a multimeter it would lose continuity. Since I replaced it everything is great. In my case it was the 20 amp fuse next to the battery.

oh god i wish it would be something so simple. Im gonna run outside and throw a new fuse in there!

I'M SO STOKED!!! I just figured out how to fix the darn top. That link above saved my life. Summer here I come!!!
