I am picking up my new 335i Coupe tomorrow morning with the 18 wheels etc.

The weather here is expected to be between 3 and 10 degrees C or 36 to 50 degrees F.

How bad will the car hand in these conditions...ie Cold roads with 18 inch performance tires

you should be fine... just drive for a few minutes before you start thinking about pushing the limits with the handling. you may also notice a slight steering wheel wobble at that temperature. it'll go away, but when a car sits for a bit in those temperatures sometimes the tires get flat spots on them that have to be driven out.

I've tested the demo car on slick winter road conditions and with its current 18s it is very scary on any kind of ice or snow. Be careful if there are any winter road conditions with those tires! You need winter snow tires for sure by next fall.

Are the tires All season, or the Sport summer tire ?

I slid down my driveway, into the street with the stock conti Sports on the car.

Bought four brand new Conti Extreme Contact Ultra High Performance tires- All season, with new Rial Flare wheels. 225/45ZR 17

Car handles great in snow.

No problem getting around.

You can get snow tires, if you think the roads call for it. But most people seem to do ok with a good pair of all seasons.

Of course- all season tires ARE NOT WINTER TIRES.

Big difference

Winter tires stay pliable in the cold, and keep their grip.

However, The Conti Extreme Contact is Silica Based- meaning- it too, will keep it's pliable grip in the snow, to some extent.

Bought the package from the Tire Rack for $957.00

Look into it.

unless the tires you have from the dealer are all season- you'll regret it.

I drove mine for a week in those temps. I did get All Season tires after that. If I was going to drive to the ski resorts I would of bought winter snow tires. My car handles all the valley snow we get here in Salt Lake City fine.

I had the unpleasant experience of driving my car the ENTIRE WINTER with my Sport tires on.

OK - I'm exaggerating- most of the winter.

But it was scary. Almost took out my Jetta sliding down the driveway.

Here's the kicker :

My driveway is virtually FLAT.

Summer tire + Winter snow = crack up derby BMW style.

I will be driving with the Factory Sport Tires...part of the Sport Package that comes with these cars in Canada.

I know that I can't drive if its freezing temperatures or snow with these tires.

My question was for above zero temps like plus 3 Celcius

That is very very bad my friend. Under those conditions the car will certainly spin out of control as you drive off. The car will make several 360 degree spins and finally crash through the dealer's showroom glass and into the dealer's offices. If you kill any dealers the world will be a better place though. :buttrock

I have driven at 0 degrees F with the summer tires. As long as you drive normal there is no problem. It is much easier to break them loose in 1st, 2nd, even 3rd gear when it is this cold. The rubber is definitely harder and you get less grip but it is not unsafe in normal driving. Think of it as having the handling of a Corolla or Civic versus your Bimmer, less but not unsafe.

Snow is a no-no with these tires. Don't know how much winter you have left in Montreal but you may be okay until next November.
