Car arrived today, 12 days after purchase. Have to get it inspected and registered before I can drive it though. The car is dark met. blue/light gray int.

The stock steering wheel isn't going to cut it, it's too damn big for my long legs. I've done some searches but not come up with any difinative info so far. I would like to keep an airbag wheel but something closer to 340mm. What is the size of the BMW 3 spoke airbag wheel? Is that a viable option? What parts other than the wheel and airbag are needed, anything? I believe Raid in Germany makes an airbag/wheel "Freeway model" that I really like the looks of, has anyone tried this wheel? Are there any issues to removing/installing the wheel other than making sure the battery cable is unplugged for 1/2 hr. before starting?

I understand there should be a build sheet/option code tag(?) under the rear seat of most BMW's, is that where it is on the 8 series? How do you get the seat out?
Edit - I figured it out, it was quite easy and the sheet was there! I also found a sticker in the cover of "Service Booklet" in w/ the owner's manual set. Unfortunately I don't understand German and both are in German.

The codes are: 016, 080, 096, 245, 428, 431, 438, 488, 528, 640, 694
I will continue looking for these code def's.

Thanks for any and all help.

840Ci Steering is very Cool with Telescoping & Elevating movement. I am 6'1 1/2". 215 lbs w/ Runningback Legs, no problems. Plus She moves for me when I get out and moves back for me when I get In. You got to love-it

I would not change! Besides the Airbag issue (repacking - dealer) and there's the BMW badge.

Just a Thought!

Edit: It's been harder than I thought to find the correct 340mm wheel, the std BMW sport wheel is 385mm per Gault BMW. I guess I'll live w/ this wheel for awhile longer and see if I get used to it.

FYI, you do not lose the tilt/telescoping features with a sport wheel, it's just smaller in diameter.
Thanks
