So today my shifter snapped off in my hand when I was shifting from first to second. It broke off right above the pivot ball. Luckily I had some friends in my car to help me quicky push it off the road into a parking lot. My mechanic said he hasn't seen this happen in the 25 years he has been running his shop. So has anyone else done this them self or seen it happen? Just currious.

Yeah I was about to post that as well. I also saw another one that was broken this weekend out of an m5.. go figure. Mechanic I talked to said he's seen more than a few. At least its an easy fix

This reminded me of that Top Gear episode (I think) when they broke the shifter off of a Murcielago. . twice.
