View Full Version : Madison: Anyone want to drive next Saturday?

I'm thinking similar to the first Madison meet last year. Meet up somewhere in town, head out to the Mt. Horeb roads near Tyrol, beat the piss out of our cars, and maybe get some food out there. High is 51F, and only a 10% chance of rain so far. Anybody down?

NEW: Postponed due to weather

I'd be up for it, assuming I can get my oil pan replaced in that time. Anyone have a spare S52 oil pan for sale?

Should we just plan on meeting at Olin Park again? Say 12PM, roll out 1230 or so?

Or we could do it later and do dinner... consensus?

Hopefully my Konis will be here by then and I can slip em in real quick :)

I might be able to make it. Last year the front end of my car took a serious beating because the roads were still really dirty. I had those crappy Depo foglights and both of them ended up cracked. Someone should take a ride out there and see how bad it is, it's supposed to rain for the next couple days so that'll probably clean the roads off.

I'm picking up a 1999 m3 on Monday! So I'll have something new to show off. :alright

Saturday March 31, Olin Park in Madison, 12PMish. I'm not meaning to steal people from the Franklin whatever it is, I was just seeing if anyone was available to join me in some spirited driving and unhealthy food. I'll edit the first post with that info, and start a list right here of who will be for sure coming.

I just checked the weather, looks like it'll be nice and cool. Hopefully the thunder storms on Thursday and Friday clear off the roads, although around Madison they seem great right now.

Looks like I have an open house on Sunday and a couple people coming on Sat to look at the house, so I am out :( . Although if we selll the house it gets me that much closer to the new house w/ 3 car garage :buttrock .

nort0188
03-25-2007, 10:34 PM
If I go on J, I usually take Mineral Point to Old Military. I also like taking 18/151 to the Cave Of The Mounds exit, then the road that goes past Little Norway, which continues on to Stewart Park.

I was out there this afternoon and they were pretty well clear. I didn't hear my Azenis kicking much of anything, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm down for doing something like this pretty much every weekend, so don't kick yourself if you can't make this one.

You can put me down for a guaranteed show. I was actually going to make a thread asking the same thing. :D

I'm sure Chuck will go once he sees this thread. I'll give him a call later to see. I might also be able to do some recon on the roads a little later this week.

I just emailed him your quote. That's going to make his day! Joe (the guy with the SVT Focus) told me that the all the roads out in that area are clean.

I ran into Chuck on Saturday, his car is out of commission, but I'm sure he'll kind something to drive. :)

i just talked to ryan (slowman), yeah there was a confusion of the chuck's, which is funny because my ix is making sounds out of the AWD like the driveshaft splines are going out. pretty common problem i guess, now i gotta get it figured out.

i'll try to make it in the eta, or i might have ryan or someone pick me up and drive me around! :D

No, at least not right now. I'm keeping the 318ti, I've got a lot into it and I REALLY enjoy the car. It's still going to be my daily and autocross slut since my 15" Hoosiers won't fit on the ///M. If someone offers me like $8k for it, then it's gone.

Vote: Weekend of April 7/8... yay or nay?

Wait!!! How about this. There is a Hillclimb in New Glarus on May 5th, Sat morning starting around 8:30. It is put on by the Alfa Romeo Club of Wisconsin... AROC. www.alfabb.com . You won't find much, it is not a heavily advertised event by any means. It is also invitation only, which means none of us can compete... only spectate.

Usually around 100 or so cars show up. Last time the highlights where... E24 M6 (f'ing mint!), Bugatti Type 35, Shelby Cobra 289, Lamborghini Countach LP5000 QV, and '65 Shelby GT350R. This is the last year of this event. I've gone for 4 years now... Even if we do a drive within the next two weeks, we should all go to this as well. I'll make a map of the course here; its just on country roads in the area.

I can do weekend only.

There is no web link for the hillclimb. It is not an advertised event. It is a private club that uses a public road, thus it is a public event. I spectate every year.

I'm from Milwaukee WI, and I am about to get a 1994 540i, 130K (is that the M60?) $6000, clean as hell, and I twisted all weekend tring to find something to hate about it.

I have had it all weekend and I love it. I want to invest money and possibly race a little. mostly just look pimp though!!

the only issue I found is that it is leaking oil. I told the dealer about it and he said he will get it fit. Is this a sign of a major problem? I havent had the time to look where the leak was coming from but I know its there. Also the "1 Brake Light" keeps poping up. I check the wires and it seemed to fix it. I also found infomation on it here to make sure its ok.

I cant feel good about it unless I know the leak isnt something really bad. Is there anything I should look for or ask on Monday. I plan on making it my baby, I already love it. it drives like a dream. I figure a new brake system and hot rims along with what ever else I find out on this board to make it run better would be a great investment.

Let me know what yall think.

There are at least 2.5 hours of country road driving. At least... with some careful planning you could probably make a 6 hour drive just staying in Green county. You probably wouldn't see the same road twice either.

I think Green county has some of the best country roads in the state. Shit, the road rally itself is on the country roads!

You guys will be missing out if you don't go. I'm going with or without you.
