Recently purchased a 99 M3 vert. Only visable problem concerns the molded plastic cover on the front leading edge of the top...interior side and rides above the sun visors...covers the locking mech's and probably a few other things...haven't had it off yet. There's the two wings that lead back over above the side windows. On the passanger side, the plastic clip that holds the wing up tight against the top frame has broke (actually was broken when I bought). This white clip appears to be molded into the plastic cover and I can see no obvious way to remove and then replace it with a new one. Any solutions for this other than buying a complete new cover?

If it is what I believe you are talking about. Mine did it too. Bmw does sell a kit to fix it.

Had this exact same problem. My solution was to drill a small hole up through the plastic piece and put a nut on the end to hold the plastic part up against the metal. It took all of 5 minutes with a dremel tool. After I was done I just colored the screw head with a sharpie and it blends in just fine for me. If you don't look for it, you don't notice it. And it sure as hell beats having that plastic part dangling down in your face.

My euro mechanic ordered what BMW called for as their fix but were both a little skeptical since neither of us can see how the remains of the old clip can be removed without grinding away portions of the molding that retains the old clip.
