Hawkster 03-23-2007, 01:38 AM Not bad... major props on work involved...
Couple gripes though...
1) All that work, with an Audi 5cyl in the back? Surely there were better power options.
2) Why the hell is the hood all "JDM" with the hinge side of it sticking up. I thought the point of that was to allow heat to escape. Uhh, not much heat building where there IS NO ENGINE.
3) Full tube-frame, and stock suspension? I'm sure it's getting coilovers, but again, surely there were better options. Custom suspension, or something out of a better handling/drifting car.
4) I'm sure they're temporary, but if you're going to have rims on that Nissan, please take the Roundels off of them.

sendittoryan 03-23-2007, 01:45 AM It's going to be a cool car nonetheless, but I'm just wondering what it's purpose will be.
Famine 03-23-2007, 09:23 AM Wow, that's really going to be interesting. I can't wait to see the final outcome.
I would realy like to know why they would use a 20v as well.

Cheap, easy to modd, alot of aftermarket parts etc. etc... Audi 20v is veeeeery popular to modd in Scandinavia, remember this is not USA.
There are scandinavians who lives in Germany that makes a living out of parting out cars and sell motors and transmissions etc. to Norway and Sweden. For example a BMW V12 motor can be bought fairly cheap over here.
IWannaBMW 03-23-2007, 02:20 PM wussup with the bmw rims on that car?
sprbxr 03-23-2007, 05:55 PM 20v Audi engines are excellent platforms for huge power. Remember the Group 44 Audi 200 racecars for the late 80s? They were so fast they were pretty much "outlawed" in SCCA Trans Am. Then they raced IMSA GT and kiled the competition there too.
Tuff Guy 03-24-2007, 12:47 PM i love it
Dino Antonov 03-25-2007, 01:46 PM 20v can make HUGE power, loves boost, that thing is awsome

promp3 03-25-2007, 02:46 PM that car is allready beautiful. it looks like one of those cars they build and race in this class in sweden thats kindof unlimited tube frame cars with tons of power usually turbocharged(for some reason swedish people really love turbo's) and bodys just draped on. I don't know the name of it. there is a video of this super crazy audi looks just like this cars soul mate.
HellKat 03-27-2007, 11:49 PM Haha, good post! YEah there are a LOT of turbo nuts over there, and that is a very popularly known engine to turbo the piss out of...
...but I love that pic with the sawzall on the car!

This ruined that car...
ThaDude 04-04-2007, 08:20 PM Do a search for Dahlback racing, to see what 20v turbo 5 cylinders can do.

Ever heard of down force? Most tracks and events on circle track require a wing.

the audi 5 cylinder turbo is a great little motor. compact, lots of power, and not too heavy.
And trust me, that suspension puts up even in stock form better than an e36 m3.

Oh really? When was the Nissan the "Best Handling Car in the World" again?
MatteBlackCoupeDude 04-10-2007, 03:45 AM Oh really? When was the Nissan the "Best Handling Car in the World" again?
I don't remember the e36 being called that by anyone. Great handling car, sure. but I meant the basic geometry. I should have elaborated. the front geometry is great, so no real changes would be needed, with the possible addition of coilovers and a huge swaybar.

Well the first to call it that was a little magazine called "Car and Driver" in 1997. It was well known after that until 1999, and even named the best handling car at ANY price!
I cannot post links yet, just do a google search and that should definitely clear things up for you.

"best handling car at any price" is an opinion. Not "Best suspension geometry at any price"
Because Jeremy clarkson and two renaut F-1 drivers said the Peugot 205 gti was the second best handling car of all time. first was the ferrari 575. the e36 m3 wasn't near the top, and they even had the s50 engine.
HellKat 04-10-2007, 06:14 PM Actually I have seen a few articles reguarding this, and I thought it was well known here in bmwLand (97-99m3). Could only remember the C&D ref off the top of my head.
I am thinking of building my e30 M52 turbo&sc'd in Phoenix very soon. Do you know of any good machine and/or tuning shops down around there?
Any help appreciated!

I've seen wings that do the same thing that look a lot better then that. And yes, I've heard of down force.

If you're looking into F.I. check out Casa Grande Street Rods, in Casa Grande. It's about 40 miles outside phoenix, and that's where my 240 was built, they have two 10 second cars, where my M coupe is being done, and where we're putting the small block 400hp motor into the 325e.

EThirD 04-12-2007, 06:19 PM Well the first to call it that was a little magazine called "Car and Driver" in 1997. It was well known after that until 1999, and even named the best handling car at ANY price!
It was called that because it was the easiest to drive to it's limit. The M3 had a limit that was much more easily attainable than the Ferrari and such, so they gave it that stupid title which has inflated the already engorged ego of BMW owners for a decade now.
Essentially, a lot of cars in the comparison would have whipped the M3 with serious drivers, but for the layman the M3 was better.

This motor has been dynoed now: 1285 hp - 1270nm @ 2,5bar. And there is plenty of more power in it says the owner, only need to change to a bigger turbo (biggest turbo he had broke down) :)

speedyhawk101 06-06-2007, 02:42 PM That turbo is almost bigger than the motor!!!!!!
I think the project is Bad Ass!! Good Luck!!
///FrankC 06-08-2007, 11:34 AM Do you think there would be a lot of lag with a turbo that big?
