My shifter broke off in 1st gear! Not the knob, the shaft, in HALF! I must be Superman. :( Luckily not blocking the road. Tow truck coming. Will need to a new e34 shifter. Wish me luck...

Temporary solution - Vice Grips on the shaft. Makeshift shifter.

LOL, I did see a white m3! Actually two e36's passed me too, but noone showed me love. It's cool, I got towed home with roadside assistance so it was free. I gotta buy a Z3 or Z8 shifter today... might as well upgrade. :)

I was waiting until I got my black/white roundels and wheel caps. They won't be in until next week though... after Saturday's meet. It looks like if I want to make the meet I need a shifter before Saturday. All the stealerships don't have them in stock. :(

Nah, this car is fine, but I guess after 15 years the shifter decided it was time to give up the ghost.

Damn man, that sucks! I never had any problems with the shifter at all, but the guy @ redline motorsports today showed me one that he had off his m5 that broke in the same exact spot Im guessing (about 1" above the ball). Sorry that it happened, but at least you have an excuse to upgrade. You've gotta come by and see the hellrot!

Thanks to a parts run by JJ Byzanz, I am back up and running. I now have the 1.9L Z3 short shifter in my car. Thanks again Jesse!

you gonna do the install? you should video tape so i can see how hard/easy it is to do :D...or just take pictures...or even better, do mine also at the same time ;)

The install was straight forward, but kind of a pain in the ass. If you need tips, etc let me know.
