Yesterday I drove down to Macon go get an apartment. On my way back up 75 northbound I was doing around 80 mph and some toolbag in a champagne colored Lincoln Zepher started pulling up behind me hardcore. When he passed me I saw his licence plate said "State Representative" where the county is normally listed. Oh hell no! Starting next month I'll be driving a car that has "U.S. Government" tags on it, and you'd better believe that if I am doing 100 mph on the interstate I'm getting arrested.

So I sped up to get his plate number: "SR6A." I had to do over 100 mph to catch up to him. When I got his plate, I went next to him and gave him a glare. Once I had what I needed and passed him, I resumed my travels at a legal speed. He started tailgating me!

This morning I'm going to call the ethics committee in the state senate and report this assclown. Anyone think it is going to be effective?

No.

It'll probably have the same result as trying to report a cop for speeding.

You're wrong and big brother is right. They are above the law.

Too bad you didn't get some pictures and submit them to a local tv news.

Call in from random phonebooths all over town every Friday night, reporting that plate for drunk driving.

I think it's a great idea. I hope you actually follow through and do it.

Let me get this straight:
1. You were speeding & breaking the law
2. He was speeding & breaking the law
3. He passed you as he was going faster
4. You increased your illegal speed to catch him

How is he the "assclown"?

One of them is a representative of the state and is supposed to be held to a higher lever of conduct? Just a guess. :dunno

I just got off the phone with a staffer who works for the chair of the state senate ethics committee. He informed me that if the house is in session, they are allowed to speed. He also informed me that police officers often will not do anything because these legislators hold the purse strings. This is some BS.

But he did tell me how to read the plate. "SR" in the plate stands for State Representative. "6" means he's from the 6th district. "A" means he has more than one car, that is his primary vehicle. Josh directed me toward the state house website, and low and behold Tom Dickson is the 6th district rep. They even provide a picture. That's positive ID right there!

So I was told to call, write and email both his office and that of my local representative. We'll see how far this goes.

30 mph over the speed limit is considered reckless driving and it is a misdemeanor offense.

Here is a more relevant list to consider:
1. Wouldn't you want to report someone driving recklessly?
2. Wouldn't you also want to find out who it is and confront him, considering the fact he probably drives like that every time he is on the road?
3. Also, wouldn't you want to find out why someone who is responsible for creating laws is so recklessly breaking them?

First employed by the Whitfield County School System in August 10, 1967 as a teacher at Pleasant Grove Elementary School, he has served in numerous capacities in the school system including bus driver and summer maintenance worker.
In other words, someone who would probably report you for similar behavior, claiming you were "endagering the chiiiiilllllldrennnnn!!" :violinist

Typical government. Good enough for them, but nobody else. :pissed

You may be tilting at windmills, but here's hoping you hit one anyway. :buttrock

Considered response:
1. That would be both of you, right?
2. See number #1
3. Possibly but I am also mature enough to realize that this "tilting at windmills"

Don't go through all the trouble, just brake check the next person that does that and let them buy you a new car!

Why are you questioning my maturity? All I did was speed up to see who he was. When I got his plates and a look at his face, I slowed down. After I slowed down he passed me again and resumed his previous speed.

Now I just want to talk to the guy and find out why he drives like an asshole. The reason I even posted this thread is because I want to vent my frustration here. As much as I want to write this guy a letter telling him how much of an asshole he is, he can literally ruin my life with one phone call. So yeah, I am kind of tilting at windmills.

One of my old high school teachers actually ran for the state house several years ago and is now the vice-chairman of the Economic Development and Tourism committee. His name is David Casas. Ol' Rep Dickson here is a member of that committee. I'm going to write my distinguished former educator and let him know that he needs to tell his collegue to slow down on our roads. Maybe that will communicate to him that the eyes are on him, just like the eyes are on me when I drive a vehicle that has U.S. Government tags on it.

You ran in "over 100 mph" on 75 to get a plate number and "glare" at him.

You got the plate number, glared, assed and then slowed down to normal speeds.

You want to call attention to someone who was speeding more than you were speeding. Ironic?

You want to tangle with someone who has the equivalent of dilomatic immunity in this state.

BTW he does not have US Gov plates if he is a GA State Rep.
