Hello everyone, my name is Dave and I've been reading bf.c for a few weeks, and I've decided to join in and ask some questions.

I live in a rural area of New York, I'm almost 18, and I'm one of the more responsible drivers I know. Through my pursuit for a new car, I've been enticed by the following of BMW's, in particular the e30 and e36's.

Do you guys think insurance would be somewhat lower if I found a 318 rather than say a 325? Keep in mind it would probably be on my father's policy.

Right now I have a 1989 pontiac bonneville, with a/t problems getting worse and it overall just losing the war against winter here. I'm pretty sure the two car plan would not work for my family right now, so how winter(read: salt) worthy are e30's if well maintained? I understand that rwd is not pleasing for winter driving in many cases too. I'll try to keep the bonnie as long as possible :)

I had some other things to ask, but I forgot them... another time I guess.

Finally, I'd like to put out that I'm looking for any BMW in the state/area that's less than 4000. I'd prefer a 3 series, but anything will be checked into. 5-speed is a definite must, do I even need a reason :) I probably won't be seriously in the market til the summer, but it would be nice to see what's out there and what to look out for

Hi, and welcome to the forums.

Why not gauge the current rates for them online? progressive/geico ... or just call and ask ...

I actually found mine listed on EBay, and just went and asked the dealer to take it offline.
Good luck.

I pay.... 550 per 6 months on my 94 325is under my parents policy in New York. And BMW's actually handle really well with snow provided you have the right tires. I haven't had any problems yet, even with the snow storm that just passed.
