Hey guys, i'm going to be attending UTI of Orlando next year, and I was curious if anyone who does or has lived in Orlando would like to give me some input about the city.

I'm looking into single bedroom apartments in the 1000/month range, a lot look very nice, the problem is i do not which parts of the city i should be looking to live near / in.

Anything i should check out when i visit during my spring break?

Also, is there a decent real car scene in Orlando? I've heard there is a good amount of rice, but i am really interested in meeting the real crowd, i heard theres a decent supra following in FL.

thanks in advance guys! :redspot

p.s- anyone been to UTI of Orlando? How was it?

Hey, I live in Orlando (2nd year) along with everyone from cfbmw.org

I know 2 people with bimmers who just started at UTI, but idk how it is so far.
As for living, the east where UCF has a lot to offer with apartments and job, basically the college town of Orlando.

As for the car scene, there is a lot of rice, but there is our bimmer crowd and lots of exotics around here especially when there are car shows.

Sign on to cfbmw and start posting to get to know everyone and ask as many questions that you have.

my roommate goes to uti of orlando, Im in the BMW STEP right now, the area is ok, its pretty centralized in florida so with just a lil driving you can be at a lot better locations. ie tampa, miami, daytona...too much rice for my likings, be sure to get a gated community, a lot of theft in the area.

since you're going to be going to UTI, you DO NOT want to leave in East Orlando like Viper suggested. the commute will kill you, the toll roads will put unnecessary strain on your wallet (c'mon will, put yer thinkin' cap on).

UTI is in South Orlando. South Orlando can be tricky. There are some nice new areas popping up around the Mall at Millenia which I think you might like. There are gated condos and apartments sprouting up in the area catering to a decent income level and they are relatively quiet and have a nice demographic. The tricky part is, go too far south or too far east of this area and there will be a few sketchy neighborhoods but nothing really bad.

I suggest this area because it will be close to UTI...which if you're coming to Florida to go to UTI, proximity to the campus should be most important to you since it will be your main commute.

You will also be located very close to I-4, which is basically the main travel artery running diagonally across Orlando...coming in from the SW from Tampa and exiting in the NE towards Daytona. Having this close will allow you to get around town.

I've been in Orlando for 22 years, and I am a serious commuter. I've been just about everywhere, I've lived in several areas of town, I know the ins and outs of this place so any questions you have I should be able to help you.

and ditto on cfbmw.org
