I am looking to buy either a 91 auto or 93 manual. Same engine I think.
What's the consensus on this?
Also: what is realistic cost of boring out to get larger displacement and more power?
Thx

Unrealistic is probably close to the cost of boring one. Minimum wall thickness to start with and it must be sleeved. And then there isn't a whole lot to add on to up the power.
.
Ahmed 303 can tell you more because his V12 has been taken to 6.0

'91 and '93 are mostly the same. Some upgrades were made to the chassis for the '93 model year. Transmission choice is personal preference.

There were only around 35 '93 six speeds imported.

No chips? I am going to add maganflows to my e38; is it possible to do on 8 series? The rear diff change apparently is a good move.

Chips are available up to mid '95. Anti chipping technology was added then and the OBD2 '96 are much more difficult-based on the opinions of others who have tried, it almost appears to be a proprietary chip with really difficult flashing.

The cost to get to 6L is very high and only a couple of people knows how to do it correctly. Even DINAN failed to sleeve the block after boreing and ended up with a few damage claims in their hands. Then they scrapped the 6L project.

But if you want increased power, you can always go with Forced induction like Twin Turbo or Supercharger systems. It is lower cost compared to the 6L displacement increase.

But if you still want increased displacement, contact me offline and I can hook you up with who did my 6L.
