Wow....saturday= a great day up at RA. I suggest all to come. The Challenge F355, the nascar, the radicals and all the GT3 cup cars added to make a DE with no regrets

I was up today (Sunday) morning for a little while.....M3BILL I found your car aound the back area, but didnt see you near the car to say hello. (Car looks great inside AND out)!

...figured while I was there went out on the track tour........they did a nice job on the track repave. (too bad avg speed was about 35 most of the time). I'm thinking someone from this fourm (black w/bw raceflag checkers on front) was right behind me taking pics)

That was DADx2? cool.
Was definately a fun weekend. My students didn't try to kill me, and bill was looking quite good out there too. (or at least his car was... )

Thanks for following me on that last run for as long as you did. I want to hear any tips that you may have. I learned a lot after you went by...very interesting line!

Bah. I couldn't make it. I ended up helping a friend swap in a diesel engine into his truck so he could run bio-diesel for a school project.

My brakes are also about to go bye-bye. I think it's time for some track/street worthy pads and rotors.

Got some in-car video - good stuff on the standing start and the rest of the race, until a damn E30 locked up the brakes and punted me in 10!

I'll post it up later this week.

Interesting line? I suppose its not the normal line through 3 or 5, but it does give me a bit more "oh crap" room. Should be very similar to the "school" line. Everywhere else should be fairly normal though. (save for the inconsistency through 1 and 3.) Perhaps you're picking up on something I'm missing though.

Had a great time following you. You were definately keeping a very good pace. we should do that more often. (when is the next track day/weekend? anyone up for TGPR?)

Anyone here participate in both the NASA HPDE and the Peachtree HPDE the weekend before?
If so, how did the two compare?
Same amount of track time?
Same # of cars in each HPDE group?

I was at the Peachtree event on 3/10-3/11 and I am curious how NASA HPDE compares.

Thanks,
Robert

I was in both (C at Peachtree and HPDE-3 at NASA). The Peachtree event had far more track time than the NASA event, but that should be expected given the host of other activities that had to be scheduled in during the race weekend. I think the HPDE-1 and HPDE-2 had bigger run groups than the Peachtree event, but HPDE-3 was much smaller than any DE group I have ever ran in. I don't have hard numbers, however.

The instructors are typically of the same ilk quality-wise (and in many cases, the same people).

I have done two events with Peachtree and two events with NASA and NASA events tend to be more race-oriented, but you learn a lot at both groups' events.

Peachtree events tend to be more organized and controlled, but that doesn't directly affect the learning environment.

Kudos to both organizations.

As promised, here's the in-car video from Sunday's Lightning race (e30's, 944, Miata, etc.). It includes selected highlights, the standing start, and the e30 hit that ended my day while I was leading my class (I give credits at the end).

Keeping the Jeep?

No, I am either trading it in or selling it to a potential buyer who has shown significant interest. It depends on timing.

Bill, You should get a H1 as a tow vehicle! Put a rocket launcher on top of it. Then you can remotely take out the competition as you race!!!

Man, I have great ideas!

The event in this thread is the NASA event.
the SCCA event coming up is nationals. Not only do you need to be a member, but you have to have your racing license. Its a race and not a DE.

shoot, so I missed the one that I could have done. at least I know the acronyms now..

so, as a current member of nothing, what events are coming up that I could participate in as a first-time track driver?

Wait until the July BMWCCA DE. That would be the best environment for your first track experience. Be sure to join the Peachtree Chapter of the BMWCCA so you can register for the event early.
