My friend has a 2002 330i and we think the front brakes need to be checked out. The thing squeaks just a little bit when we are coming to a slow rolling stop. The pads were replaced last year or 11000 miles ago, so they should still be in good shape.

Just want to take it to a reputable shop down here in Miami. If you guys know of any trustworthy and knowledge shops, please let me know.

Thanks!

Whenever you're looking for reputable BMW mechanics in an area, check here first http://www.bimrs.org/

There are two member shops somewhat near to Miami, one in Davie and one in Stuart.

I'm not sure that you really need to take it to a mechanic for squeaking brakes though. You can easily take the front wheels off to verify the pad thickness and if that checks out, the pad backings probably just need a thin application of a high-temp copper based anti-seize compound. This will damp the high frequency vibrations that cause brake squeak.

I think thats a good idea. There are a few shops mentioned in the threads if you search, but no one ever searches and the question gets asked 3 times/month, so a sticky is probably a good idea.

It would be even better if we could post reviews of the service for each place, but I have a feeling if it were all in one thread it would get disorganized.

Thats a good amount of work. I would offer to help out with the LCABs if you can get them pre-pressed like you can for the E46 and the control arms arent too bad, but the RTABs I would avoid doing in my driveway again.

I've read some how-tos on the E36 shocks/struts, and it doesn't look too bad. I've done shocks/springs on the rear of my E34, but not on the front.

I'm all the way up in Boynton though - it'd take you forever just to get up here. I've heard good things about redline performance, but never gotten anything done there. We really should organize a list of shops and reviews of them.
