If you do happen to decide on buying a car from Open road dont let them sell u some crap Wheel and Tire insurance. I hit a giant pothole on the parkway in my E90 330i which ended up bending both drivers side rims, bubbling the front tire, and bending the entire front drivers suspension. The Wheel and tire insurance package the Manager of Open Road came out and sold me was to cover road hazards or anything. But instead the service agent comes back to me and says the insurance is not going to be paying for new rims but instead heres $150 to repair the rims. Now ive had my old Hamanns repaired and the end result was horrible. The repaired rims were not even the same color as the original rims, finish was also horrible and took like 3 weeks. How can i put something like that on my new E90. And seriously.. how in the world are you possible going to actually damage a rim to the point of replacement then? How can Open Road BMW sell and back something like this is beyond me. The service rep even said BMW doesnt recommend, does not support repaired rims, and do not even know where to get rims repaired. But yet the insurance policy they sell for Rim and tires insist on repaired rims.

Im done with Open Road BMW... Ive been customer there for 10 years buying all parts and maintenance, purchased 3 new BMWs from Open Road, and take it there for all services. Well this is after they bleed me for the remaining $3800 bill for repairing the suspension and new rims.:mad :mad :mad

Sorry i had to vent :(

its not aftermarket rims.. they are my stock 18" sport rims we are dealing with. Well i sent an email to the general manager who tells me not to worry and he will take care of this when he gets back from vacation next week. Im not sure what that exactly means yet.

JMK is pretty close to me too. CircleBMW ive heard good things. We'll see if Open Road makes right on this.

Dealerships are amazing, the sales people are snakes as most car salesman are. (sorry for the generalization) The parts department is a complete tragedy.

Can someone explain the attitude that these parts guys have? I mean seriously if they hate their jobs so much then what the hell are they doing? If they hate life so much, why not put a 9 in their head and get it over with? I sure as hell won't miss them.

Just today I had to call the dealership for some fuel lines for a customer. Of course the parts guy talks me as if I am half a retard. Afterall he has many years of education and experience working on cars*sarcasm*. Then after all is said and done, he hangs up on me while I am in mid sentence. What is up with that? I guess I could have called back, had a screaming contest, threatened to meet him after work, but why? Why should it come to that? What is wrong with these people?

Ok maybe its just me. Maybe this guy is just having a bad day. Who knows.

Another story is just last week I was ordering a cabin air filter because I forgot to order one for an Inspection II. So I was there at the counter speaking to yet another disgruntled employee. Looked like he wanted nothing more than to not be there. I started the conversation with "I have a shop account with you guys." After all is said and done (mind you it took over 25 minutes for this genius to get me my parts) he quotes me crazy retail. I again explain to him I have a shop account. It was like he deeply resented the fact that I was going to get my shop discount. Yes they make commission but over 25 bucks? I mean seriously...

Back to the topic... I would kick and scream for some sort of compensation. Whats the point in having such insurance? Its a sucky feeling to get dicked around. Why not go to an independent shop to get your suspension done? Also why not get a set of aftermarket rims if in fact stock rims were going to cost you thousands of dollars?

I think parts guy attittude is directly related to brand. Every dealership I tried for BMW parts, BMW of Bridgeport, Open Road, JMK, has sucked. When I had an audi only Bell that is also a Scubie dealership worked with me in finding information. Mazda the guys are awesome, they print out all the screens handed them to me and doubled check it's what I wanted.

For BMW stuff I only deal with pelican or Crevier in cali(who I think pelican may work worth it)

it really depends on the dealer itself. Some dealers are so profit hungry that all they see is dollar signs, and are not worried about customer rention. I have expereineced some terrible service from many dealers from all makes, lexus, volvo, audi, mercedes, acura, and Bmw. I must say that greenwich BMW really provides good service. I think they really work with person in trying to understand their needs, especially they don't see that many non-warranty cars. Some dealers like the smaller dealers try to brush you off, especially if you're just buying parts and not getting any service done-others will try to rape you every chance they can, even if you have a good relationship with them. I must say, BMW provides a better services than the aforementioned makers. Mercedes is just horrible. Audi really tries to work with you, but they understand that their cars are overly complicated and there so many parts that they become confused. Volvo guys just don't understand their cars at all. They experiment with their customers and it's no fun because you back to sqaure one. Like everyone stated, if you paid for a service or protection plan-raise the bar and elevate your complaint until satisfaction is deemed. Good luck

lol.. read again that same sentence.. i said my OLD hamanns. I was looking to get new rims but anything i like is gonna cost $2k for rims and its just not something i can spend with an already big bill from the suspension.

Well originally i wasnt sure if the suspension was destroyed. So i was gonna just bring the car back to OpenRoad where i bought it and the rim insurance. In the end i put a claim thru for the suspension which geico is giving me problems as well. But thats another story.

The sales rep Tom who im working with is trying to help me but his hands are tied. I had him goto his parts and service manager about the insurance company but they said theres nothing they can do because the contract had said they reserve the right to repair or replace any rims. But then the sales rep tells me BMW doesnt recommend and do not repair rims........ so what the hell kind of insurance is the dealer selling? Tom has helped me a lot and i dont blame him for any of this.

Yea i basically will not be happy until OpenRoad makes right on this.. The General manger had the sales manager call my cell and tell me it will be taken cared of. Im not sure what taken care of means yet until Monday when he gets back from his vacation.

Dealers are profit hungry which makes me disgusted. Ive always been pleased with OpenRoad and the service ive gotten until this back stabbing.
