And it's lame. They need to bring back the 325i and 330i These great cars were axed, for this crummy hatchback, tonka toy. Dave95M3 04-10-2007, 03:23 PM it's the 1 series. And it's lame. However, the Audi A3 is (objectively speaking) a better car and is available in the US right now. nukeduster 04-27-2007, 01:02 AM Yes, there is a 2 series, no its only a demo car so far, no real car yet exists. http://www.wheels24.co.za/Images/Photos/20040415090346M2_1.jpg The 1 series is a real car made in mexico and canada and we've seen them so far in arizona once in a while. Yes the car is a hatchback but we will only be getting the coupe and convertible in the US initially. The coupe wont look anything like that hideous photoshop above. For pictures of the real thing check my post in this forum about the 1ser coupe. nukeduster 05-03-2007, 05:06 AM Guys, there isn't going to be a 2 series, just the 1 series. Because, Im more inclined to believe the various magazine subscriptions I own that all say that bmw is going to be making a 2 series sometime between 2008 and 2010. Eric Clark 05-05-2007, 12:36 PM It would appear so. However, the Audi A3 is (objectively speaking) a better car and is available in the US right now. How do you figure? Can't get the 3.2l and a manual together. xustfosorcim 05-07-2007, 07:13 PM Yes, there is a 2 series, no its only a demo car so far, no real car yet exists. http://www.wheels24.co.za/Images/Photos/20040415090346M2_1.jpg The 1 series is a real car made in mexico and canada and we've seen them so far in arizona once in a while. Looks like a 300C and a 1er had a one night stand. 3-1= 2 :stickoutt akhbhaat 05-09-2007, 09:32 AM How do you figure? Can't get the 3.2l and a manual together.Or the 2.0 and AWD. :) You're either stuck with an auto or stuck with FWD. I was speaking about the European version (which I've driven along with the 1er), because I think Audi screwed up big time in their options list for the US market - no manual in the 3.2, no quattro only on the 2.0T, no three door...and they won't be selling the S3, either, which is the one to have. Still, the A3 has a lot of advantages over the 1 series. If you can do without RWD and don't mind the four cyl motor (which IMO is the better value anyhow), it's a solid choice. I have a lot of issues with the 1er. It's cramped and (IMO) ugly. The interior is E90 lite :thumbdown and the biggest problem of all is that it's not much lighter than the E46. Steering feel and driving behavior are no different or better than any other contemporary model. Plus, knowing BMW, they'll only send over the high powered I6s and won't bother with the wonderfully efficient diesels (120d - 0-60 in 7ish seconds, 50 mpg!). RichP 05-09-2007, 03:08 PM A3 is a mess over here for the above reasons (no turbo and quattro) combined with the fact that the pricing on the A3 is so high, why not just get the A4. kapoy 05-15-2007, 02:12 PM this is an abomination of the "ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE" -- damn!!! looks so queer... just like the mercedes c 230 coupe..... eurocar328 05-19-2007, 03:33 PM this is an abomination of the "ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE" -- damn!!! looks so queer... just like the mercedes c 230 coupe..... :lol Boy i would i love to see the look on your face when a lightly modded 135 blows by you. If they stick the N54 in there, it will be bmw's best sleeper. The 1 series certainly isnt BMW's prettiest design, but the widebodies look badass. I mean come on, a twin turbo RWD hatchback? it doesnt get any better and more european than that akhbhaat 05-19-2007, 07:52 PM :lol Boy i would i love to see the look on your face when a lightly modded 135 blows by you. I mean come on, a twin turbo RWD hatchback? it doesnt get any better and more european than thatActually, the E87 is not much smaller or lighter than the E90. Generally, the difference is no more than ~200 lbs with equivalent engines. It won't be any more of a "sleeper" than the 335i is, and everybody already knows about that car. bigdog68 05-21-2007, 09:47 AM I have driven a 120d hatchback they are great, I was in France for my honeymoon and we rented one for part of the trip. It was the diesel wich I hope we get here, but wont anytime soon, was quick and nice to fill up in europe with their gas prices right now. The 2 series is the same thing as the 1 series, its just being thrown around name wise, if you remember they were originally going to call the E92 3 series coupe the 4 series. We will be getting the coupe 1 first around the end of 2008 as a 2009 model and the convertible in the following months, expect the smaller engines first like a 4 banger and then the big ones. BMW already has manuals for the 1 series cars being made available to tech's from what I understand after talking to my salesman, so it is cominng. El Bori 05-22-2007, 10:24 PM doesnt the 2 series remind you of crappy 318s no offense to whoever owns one 00'323i 11-02-2007, 01:09 AM no, odd 1,3,5,7 are odd:) except 2002,6,8 yea, that would be even.... Schermer 11-02-2007, 07:14 PM no, odd 1,3,5,7 are odd:) except 2002,6,8 non-odd=even.... TheM3nsah 11-02-2007, 10:08 PM yea thats y i said ive never seen a non-odd numbered car except for what was stated. i said non-odd instead of even becuase we all know most bimmers are odd numbered. who gives a fvck cemimms 11-04-2007, 08:42 PM Guys, there isn't going to be a 2 series, just the 1 series. There is no 2. SteveB 11-04-2007, 11:31 PM There is an blurb in the current Roundel about a new BMW 'small' car based on the Mini. Not another version of the Mini but a car that will be a BMW. "Others speculate that Munich is eager to jump into the burgeoning European "microcar" market and introduce it within the next eighteen months." Could this be the 2 series? These new wagon style hatches look horrid. I loved them when I had seen pics of them online but in person they look terrible. I hope we never have to see em here. |
